Five weeks and miserable!

Hi there, this is my first pregnancy. I'm starving every two hours, I eat and then feel sick! I'm feeling so lethargic and I already have a little baby bump. I'm not sleeping well either, I seem to wake up every morning dying of thirst or needing to pee. Also, my cravings are intense.. Mostly carbs and salty food. I'm starting to wonder if I'm carrying twins! I'm exercising daily and trying to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Is anyone else experiencing similar symptoms? Someone said it's early for me to be so symptomatic. Any input /advice is much appreciated!

  • That sounds like my experience so far lol I'm 5 weeks 3 days and just woke up from a nap-I've never been able to take naps lol I'm hungry a lot, queasy, constantly thirsty (at night i wake up with back pain because I get dehydrated), my muscles ache like the flu, and I'm always tired so it's been very difficult to find energy to clean let alone work out. My doctor said its normal right now with the baby doubling in size almost daily and that it tends to calm down after the first trimester

Sounds like a typical first trimester. Your bump is just bloat, by the way. Baby is the size of a teeny seed and tucked away behind your pelvis. You're bloating more easily due to a slower digestive system caused by pregnancy and the increased amount of water you're drinking.
  • It sounds like we're in the same boat! I feel like I need a nap every couple of hours. It's definitely making work challenging let alone everything else! I definitely don't have the stamina I did prior to being pregnant. I can deal with the fatigue, but feeling sick after every time I eat is super frustrating. But sometimes I think my eyes are bigger than my stomach with this pregnancy, so I'm hoping smaller more frequent meals helps even things out. I'm finding I have to convince myself to eat fruits and vegetables. I seem to only want carbs and the cravings are so hard to fight!
  • I've been feeling my pregnancy since 5 days before I missed my period. I thought I was coming down with something. But it's mostly been nausea that comes and goes, and I'm unable to eat much, even when I'm starving. I'm 5w 2d now, and for the last 2 days I've had some crazy dreams and am extremely tired. And i haven't slept good for the last 2 weeks. I know it's normal, but with my first two kids, I had few symptoms so early, and none were this yucky. Can't wait to get to the second trimester.. it will get better!
  • I just hit six weeks and I'm noticing another shift in symptoms. I switched to smaller more frequent meals and that definitely seems to help. The first meal of the day seems to hit me the hardest, I feel nauseous then exhausted! A nap around 10/11 seems to help me out for the rest of the day. I tried a smaller breakfast this morning, but no improvement. It's tricky, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel! I'm also eager for the second trimester :) everyone says it's the best in terms of energy and symptoms!
  • A lot of women do best with eating something small like crackers before getting out of bed. Keeping a water bottle nearby to take frequent sips can be better than drinking full glasses at once.

I'm.envious of your nap. I thought I would nap with my two year old today, but he's on a nap strike.
