The cat has been sleeping in the babies crib ever since we set it up and I haven't done anything to prevent it. The baby will sleep in our room with the door shut and then her room with the door shut, so I really don't care. Plus he is so cute in there!
@Monilee1017 - That's adorable! Our dog is in LOVE with the baby's room. I have no idea why, but I think it has interesting smells (a bunch of hand me down baby clothes that haven't been washed yet) and we have a little pad from a broken pack and play hand me down and that pad has become another dog bed for him. He will just lay on it and play with his toys all day long, at the foot of the (currently empty) bassinet. If we have that door shut he gets so excited to go in there. It's adorable.
I am a pediatric nurse and I have a patient that is super sick. I am the usual nurse for this patient and because of my hormones I am having a hard time handling myself because it breaks my heart to see them needing so much care! I spoil them and so do my coworkers but I just want to bawl!
I had a meltdown yesterday to my mom. Just real emotional day Wednesday and I was telling her about it. Today she tells me I'm stressing too much about things out of my control. Uhm, I'm not stressing. There is a thing called emotions and women do have them even if she doesn't. At class the other night the nurse basically told us that if we fail at BFing or have problems with it then it's our fault because Mother Nature won't let things go wrong. Then she kept putting down formula feeding. How BF babies all have higher IQ points, less likely to die from SIDS, etc. I doubt the IQ thing just from experience but the way she worded the SIDS, she basically made it sound like we would be killing our babies by formula feeding. I fully intend to BF but if I have troubles I don't want to be guilted or made to feel like crap. then my mom told me I know too much information about my pregnancy and that I should stop worrying. Not worrying here. Just feeling emotional and am having bouts with depression right now. Not enough to warrant a trip to the doc, but I can tell something is wrong with me emotIonally. She just downplays my feelings.
And FFS I'm tired of people telling me I need to get an epi or csection because baby is measuring big. I don't want either one unless necessary. Stop pushing them on me!! Btw, it's friends and online forums.
If it was me, granted I'm a pediatric nurse, I would report her for shaming mothers and providing false information. Not everyone can breast feed. That is a fact of nature which is also a reason why we have formula. I will be formula feeding my baby because I am having surgery after delivery and I will be on medication that won't be safe for my baby since it is passed through breast milk. Also my baby will be formula fed because me, my siblings and cousins all had milk protein allergies as infants so we couldn't breastfeed. That nurse needs a reality check and its my professional opinion she has no business teaching a class when her views do not agree with the specailties that moms will be dealing with. You feed your baby by doing what works for you and baby, besides that, doing the best you can is all any doctor or nurse can ask for. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
As for those trying to tell you what you need to do for birth, screw them! It's your body and your baby. You know what's best! Period.
