How are you feeling? Better this morning. Took the Dr's suggestion to eat graham crackers before I got up, and I am currently not nauseous!

Doing anything baby related today? Just bumping along and window shopping online, which is apparently my new hobby.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Super excited this morning to look at our favorite chart and see that today I have an 81.1% chance of NOT having a miscarriage. :)

    Questions? Nada

GTKY - Tell us one thing that you are looking forward to doing for the first time with your new LO. I am really looking forward to reading nightly bedtime stories. That was something I always loved as a kid that my mom did with me, and I very much so look forward to doing it with this LO.

Doing anything baby related today? I just bought What to Expect... last night, so I will probably read a little of that.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Hoping my doc will call me back this morning to set our first appointment! (I just believed the HPT yesterday, so I called yesterday afternoon)

    Questions? None today

GTKY - Tell us one thing that you are looking forward to doing for the first time with your new LO. I am really excited to hold him/her and see DH with him/her--I've been dreaming about it for a long time.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: We were TTC for six months but since the positive test on Wednesday I've just been really anxious. Trying to get in a more positive head space, be more happy/excited.

How are you feeling? Great! I've been in a really good mood the past coupe days. My symptoms are confined to really sensitive nipples and quite the sense of smell.

Doing anything baby related today? Meeting with a plumber to hopefully find and fix a link above our master shower. We haven't used this shower in a few months as I've been procrastinating this project. My butt was kicked into high gear to start addressing these issues in preparation for baby.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I'm attending an online conference from home all day. Super excited to stay in my pajamas and catch up on TB.

    How are you feeling?
Great! Aside from a little bit of mild cramping, and a few dizzy spells here and there, I don't really feel pregnant. If I remember correctly, any symptoms I had with my first pregnancy (and I was fortunate not to have many) didn't kick in until I was 8 weeks along, so it will be interesting to see what happens with this one.

    Doing anything baby related today?
Nope! Not unless you count waiting in line behind 20 people at Starbucks for a Peppermint Mocha because I just "had to have one" baby-related. I've been craving one all week.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
I'm really excited to be here, and wishing everyone h&h pregnancies.

How are you feeling? Tired and hungry (currently eating my scrambled eggs while I type this!)

Doing anything baby related today? I'm waiting impatiently for the doctor's office to call me with my HCG levels from yesterday. They were 76 on Tuesday so fingers crossed that they've doubled...

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I went to this OB for my first pregnancy and they were great but I feel like they've really gone down hill, service wise. The nurse's line always goes to voicemail so you have to leave a message if you have questions, and I had to call them three times to finally get my test results on Wednesday. I'm a little concerned I'll have to call them a bunch today too. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't tell me I should hear from them "first thing in the morning".

    Questions? Not today!

GTKY - Tell us one thing that you are looking forward to doing for the first time with your new LO.  Introducing him or her to my daughter and step-son. They don't know I'm pregnant, but they've been asking for a little brother. :-)

Doing anything baby related today? Pinterest searching. Created a private board, since no one really knows right now.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I am missing coffee and caffeine!!! And wine. And hate that my pants don't fit as well. And I hate my progesterone shots (even though they are keeping baby sticky, so I'll do them). And hate that I'm so negative...hah! I mean, I worked for this for years, damnit! I am happy, I promise!

    Questions? Nope

GTKY - Tell us one thing that you are looking forward to doing for the first time with your new LO. Right now, I just can't wait to tell DS that he's going to be a big brother! He keeps telling me he asked God for a baby and he said yes, so why do I not have a baby in my belly. I SO want to tell him! But, when he knows, the world will know!

How far along are you? 5 weeks

How are you feeling? Not quite as tired today which is good. Super emotional. I cried at like 4 Facebook videos this morning.

Doing anything baby related today? Not today.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I almost bought more HPTs today even though I have peed on a million and the lines were dark. But I managed to resist.

GTKY - Tell us one thing that you are looking forward to doing for the first time with your new LO. I'm a weirdo who actually loves the L&D experience (including the labor part even though it's not fun) so I can't wait to meet my baby for the first time and have those precious first few days. This is most likely our last baby (#3) so it's bittersweet to think of my last "first hello" with my newborn.

If you consider trying to figure out what mocktails to order at the holiday party tonight baby-related, then yes!
    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:

    Questions?
So I had originally scheduled an appt. for Dec. 21st. I spoke with the doc today and it sounds like it would just be a confirmation appt (I'd be almost 8 weeks) - is that even worth it? I mean if I have a BFP, what's the point of a confirmation visit (sounds like they just want more money if you ask me)? Should I just re-schedule for when I hit 10-12 weeks instead and then do the prenatal labwork?

I can't wait for DD to meet the new baby, but am praying she won't be entirely jealous!

@kitkatherine The only question my office has asked me (2/2 times) has been "When is the date of your last menstrual period?" in order to determine how far along I am and when to schedule me.

ETA is there anything in particular you're concerned about them not asking?

Every office is different and may have a confirmation appt as a requirement. Mine does. During the confirmation appointment, they not only gave me a urine test, but also sat and chatted with me for about 30 minutes. We discussed diseases that run in the family in order to rule out any type of genetic concerns, I was given information on the different testing that will be offered (NT scan and others), and I was given a packet of information about the practice, hospital, and medications safe during pregnancy. We also discussed the practice and expectations (frequency of appointments). At the end of this visit, I had my blood drawn for the lab work. I go a week later for an initial exam with the NP and have my first ultrasound at a THIRD appointment that same week (luckily I was able to score them same day and back to back, but that's not always the case).
  • Options
@jwittwer Are you planning on doing an NT scan? If you wait until 10-12 weeks to be seen, it might be too late to schedule one.

@Kristin712 - with my first pregnancy I didn't see the OB until after I had confirmation, so maybe it is a requirement. I've delivered with the hospital before though, so they have all my medical history. I still have all the info they gave me for DD, so I'm imagining not much would change. They said that at another appt (the one 10-12 weeks) is where they'd be drawing blood for labs

@Elm1214 - it doesn't look like my insurance covers it from what I'm seeing, so I'm not sure if I'll do that or not. I did do it the first time around though.

How are you feeling? Fine. My stomach's been a bit upset in the mornings, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it morning sickness yet.

Doing anything baby related today? Nope.

How are you feeling? No symptoms, but it feels really weird to have this big secret. I feel like "I'm pregnant" is typed on my forehead because it's pretty much all I think about, but no one by DF and my BFF know. It's cool, but pretty surreal.

Doing anything baby related today? Not drinking wine tonight. There's pretty much no reason other than a baby why I would be doing that.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Do they have to call it Advanced Maternal Age? (I'm 38.) It makes me sound so ... old.

Questions? How much time do you have?

@Bethanyyyy for DS's first Halloween, I was the mother of dragons, DS was a baby dragon and DH was John Snow :) We are taking advantage of doing family costume themes until DS starts to have a say.

    *tw - loss mentioned*

How far along are you? 4 weeks 3 days

How are you feeling? Pretty good, a bit tired and seriously moody (I actually screamed at DH today which I never do - although he totally deserved it). Morning sickness didn't hit until 7 weeks last time so I'll have to wait and see.

Doing anything baby related today? I just found out this morning, but my brother and sister in law came over for dinner and we told them. Sister in law is 7 weeks so it will be so cool to be going through this together.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I'm so anxious about whether or not this will be a sticky baby. After my loss a couple of months ago, I'm having a very hard time keeping myself positive.

    Questions? None right now.

GTKY - Tell us one thing that you are looking forward to doing for the first time with your new LO.
Having a newborn sleep on my chest again. It is the most incredible feeling to be the one place they want to be in the whole world. I don't feel like I fully appreciated that feeling with DS because I was so overwhelmed so I'm hoping I can be more present this time.
