Breastmilk question

Ok so when I pump in the morning I get the most milk and that's usually 4-5oz at one sitting. When I pump during the day I usually get maybe 1oz per side. I read that it's ok to just put the whole pump with milk in the fridge and reuse it to pump again. My question is does anyone know if it's safe to mix the cold milk with the newly pumped milk?

Re: Breastmilk question

  • I think you can add to the first pumped milk throughout the day but only when the added milk has already been chilled in the fridge. I keep my first pumped milk of the day in a storage bag in the fridge and at my next pump session after breast feeding I keep that milk in the bottle I pumped into (in the fridge to cool down). The next time I want to pump I add the refrigerated milk from the bottle into the storage bag from early morning and then pump into the bottle again and put that in the fridge and continue on that pattern if that makes sense

  • You can add, just always mark the bags with the earliest time you pumped.
  • I leave it all hooked up and put it in the fridge and add to it later...
