I HATE Pants!!

Why can't I find a comfortable pair of pants?! Unless they are my sweatpants (which I can't wear to work) I am just miserable all day long! Even maternity pants- the mid band rolls under my belly  making me look like I have a muffin top, I'm not big enough for the full belly bands, and the side bands fall off my hips as I walk and when I sit down! Ugh, just needed to vent- even as I'm typing right now I want to take my pants off.

Re: I HATE Pants!!

  • My solution to the full/mid m-bands is to purposefully fold the band down low on the waist. It acts like an elastic belt and keeps the pants up without the awkward line or muffin-top look.

I feel your pain though. In general, I hate pants unless they're leggings. When I go into the office I usually go with the boots/leggings and a long dressy top look. Depending on how formal your dress code is though, that might not work.

  • I just want you to know that you're not alone. I also hate pants... unless they're leggings or yoga pants. Neither of which I am allowed to wear to work. But you know what... I said F the world this week and I've worn leggings to work twice. I ordered some dresses Cyber Monday and hope to wear them starting next week, but I also live in a very cold climate so, I'm not sure how long that will really work.

  • Ditto. Stopped wearing them from 8 weeks onwards. Nothing wAs comfortable anymore. Dresses. Dresses. Tunics.

  • I feel your pain! Club leggings over here! I can't wear them to work though. My husband wanted to go to dinner last week and I said no because I didn't want to wear pants lol
  • We have NO maternity pants here!! Nothing. And no I am not joking.

So I am beyond annoyed at my own pants situation. Or lack of pants situation.

I order all mine online as there is nothing local. Sometimes I'm lucky and find some at thrift or consignment stores but often what they have isn't my style or the wrong size.

  • Once winter comes here, dresses, leggings, and boots with a cardigan thrown over are pretty much all I wear. I have thankfully found some full panel pants that work well for my bump this time, but last time they weren't comfortable at all and the demi panels only worked until about halfway through.
  • Like some of the previous posters mentioned, getting a belly band might help.  I have a a few Bella Bands in different colors, and they work great if you're like me and aren't quite ready for maternity pants yet, but your regular ones don't fit right anymore.  If you fold them in half, you can unbutton your pants and they hold the pants up and just look like you layered a shirt underneath.  Later on, you can use them for full belly coverage.  I got mine for about $15 at Target.

I was showing DH's grandmother one of mine the other night, and she wants one now!  She was like, "That would be great for when I eat too much at holiday dinners!"  I might get her one for Christmas!  LOL

Thanks - I think you're right. Will probably have to import from US or UK though.

My family is going over for skiing holiday to EU so might ask them to look out for me!

Just annoyed for now. It should not be hard to find pants :)

My issue with maternity pants is they grow during the day. So every pair I have I can only wear once before I need to wash them to get them to shrink up again. By 3pm they are bagging at my knees and I look like a hobo.

This happens for me too. They get super baggy both in the knees and in the crotch area. My belly isn't that full down low so it's just baggy.

  • Do any of you have the Belly Button pants extenders? I ordered two of them (from free coupons I received from my OB office- just paid shipping), and they've helped me to stay in my pre-pg jeans for a while. Only one of my pairs of jeans are getting too snug while completely unzipped, so the Belly Button isn't working for those anymore. Also, the hair tie around the button trick helps a bit, but I know that only works to give a couple inches. ;)
  • I finally caved and bought a pair of maternity jeans. I felt so proud of myself for buying based on fit and not letting the size number bully me. The pair that was my usual size was fitted, but the pair that was a size up were comfy and have room to grow, so they won.

I've mostly been doing the rubberband button trick with long tops. I'd be surprised if I'm getting away with that in January.

I used that for a while, but I've also lost weight from morning sickness so my pre-prego pants aren't the best fitting either. When I did use the band I found it helpful, although I felt it altered the way my pants fit in other areas and I never totally felt secure like they were being held up.But that might have been because my pants were already becoming too big from the weight loss.

i love this! I've never said it out loud but decided on whether to put pants on is part of my internal struggle in going out of the house.

  • AuntieCre5 sounds like we are wearing the same pair of pants! I've been debating how to dress up black yoga pants for the office. I bought a few pairs from gap on sale and the ones with the elastic waistband don't stay up correctly and just give me a terrible muffin top. Professional looking maternity clothes are so terrible! I think for the next few months I'm going to stick to dresses with tights at the office.

I'm not big enough for the full panel kind yet but I did get a pair from loft for 20$ on sale.  I've heard good things about the full panel in the 3rd tri so I'm hoping in a few months I'll have something to wear to work.
  • I have a pair of maternity jeans that look nice....but like PP said, by the afternoon, they are inching down - and they don't have belt loops for me to pull them up!!  Ridiculous!!

  • I'll join the Pants Haters Club.

My demi panel jeans that were so comfy when all I had was a blump are now miserable! Wearing them today was a big mistake. I have one pair of full panel jeans but I get so hot in them and find the panel material a little itchy.

Where is everybody getting their maternity leggings from? I think I'm going to need more than the 2 pairs I have.

  • I like Gap/Old Navy basic full-panel leggings so long as you have something that covers your butt since they're a little on the thin side. They're perfect under shorter dresses with boots or with long sweaters. I can't help with suggestions for thicker pairs because I can't bring myself to pay more than $10 for leggings...

I found a website yesterday called pinkblush.com I haven't ordered anything yet. But they had a ton of maternity leggings in great colors and not real expensive..
  • I just have to say that taking my pants off when I get home from work is my favorite part of the day! I have found some comfy stuff at Motherhood.
  • My jeans are literally falling off right now... so stretched out. I wont be buying this brand again (from Kohls)

  • I'm doing okay in the pants department, but undies, now that's a different story!! They are either rolling down, riding up my backside, cutting into me, or just generally annoying me.

Ditto this. Except its still ok over here in CA to skip the leggings since its still warm. Dresses and maxi skirts have been my go to, so comfortable! But I agree in cold climates throw a pair of leggings on with the dress and sweater, bam ready to go!

Yup!! I'm having the same difficulties with my undies!
  • I am in love with my JCrew maternity jeans. They don't have the band thing, just elastic panels above where the pockets are, and cut low in front so there's room for a growing belly. I'm barely showing and I live in them - the real test will obviously be if they actually last my whole pregnancy. But yeah, pretty stoked, especially since I got them for $30 on sale, and they have tall sizes.

If you can stand thongs, I recommend the alarmingly tiny VS thongs-- the ones that are basically soft elastic with cotton to cover the lady bits. They stay put, are super stretchy, and fit under the bump without rolling or digging in.

Definitely can't do thongs. I am leaking like a sieve and need all the pantyliners I can get!
  • Luckily I've found two pairs of maternity jeans that I absolutely love. The rest of them are baggy and awkward. But leggings are the best thing ever. Sometimes I forget I'm even wearing anything at all!

I had to resort to maternity panties with the band at the top. I feel like my mom but ya know, they're comfy and it's a heck of a lot better than my days just a couple weeks ago where I was walking through the grocery store with my underwear rolled all the way down underneath my butt cheeks!

    I got these:

  • I am in love with Pea in the Pod Splendid leggings. They're pricey (and I'm stalking PITP for x-mas deals) but they look SO good that they are totally fine for work. I never realized there could be such a difference in legging quality, but there is. And to go to work feeling comfy is definitely worth the extra $$.

THIS. The PITP leggings are the BESTTTTTT. Pricey but you will not regret ladies!
  • Bella bands!!! If your precious pants still fit your legs and butt and you just can't zip and button them... Bella bands are amazing because they hold your pants up without anyone knowing they aren't secured! Lol life saver for me since I'm in that in between stage where full on maternity pants weren't for me yet!

Thongs are the bane of my existence, but the super stretchy lace-banded bikini style undies are fantastic when pregnant.
