Im eight weeks and they still havnt called me for an appointment . Had my blood work done on nov 12 and already referred by familt doc ... how many weeks were you when they called or booked for your first appointment? I called them a week ago and they said they arent booking july due moms yet and said they would call me.

Typically YOURE supposed to call to make your appt. I've never had my doctor call me to schedule unless there was a reason to reschedule. But to answer your question, I've been seen around the same times with all 3 of my pregnancies.

  • ^all the above

I was in the 7-8 weeks window when they scheduled mine. It was for dating purposes.

Hmm in that case @rbellmore14 I'd probably call again just to follow up and touch base. That seems weird to me though, that they wouldn't even give you an appt even if it was further out. I mean, some people need to make work arrangements way far in advance. I like to plan my calendar. Also having had a loss, I'd just really want a date. That would put me off a bit, TBH. Like enough so that I'd probably look around for someone else who would at least get me on the books. Unless it was a doctor that I knew I really wanted to use I guess.

  • Im really considering that ... i had a miscarriage my first pregnancy and never made it to obgyn but i was booked well in advance and i would have had my first appointment around 9 weeks .
  • 9-10 weeks. Most won't see you before then unless you are having issues.
  • As far as it stands right now my only confirmed pregnancy is from three at home tests... blood work has been done for a few weeks. I feel so left in the wind.
  • Between 7&8 weeks

  • I met with the OB coordinator at 6 weeks and was due for a dating ultrasound with a tech at 7-8 weeks. My son ended up on the hospital with meningitis so I cancelled...so now I won't see anyone (my OB) until 11 weeks- next week. I'm ok with that though because baby will be bigger for the ultrasound! My past pregnancies it's always been around 10-11 weeks with the OB.

  • My OB does first appointments when you're 8-10 weeks. I didnt have to wait for them to schedule, I scheduled mine 3 weeks out.

I just had my first appointment Thursday. They thought I would be 7-9 weeks (unsure since I have VERY irregular periods) but I was only 6w4d. They are doing a followup in 2 weeks when I'm 8w2d just to make sure baby is developing as it should. As long as baby is measuring ok, I will have my next appointment at 12w and meet the doctor.

  • I had my first appointment at 7 weeks and I got an ultrasound and blood work.
  • I'm scheduled for my first appt with my MW at 8 wks and then first u/s at 12
  • I called my on/gyn and they plugged in my LMP and said they see women at 7 weeks.... They scheduled it the day I am 7 weeks. I'm assuming I'll get an u/s because they have a tech in office. Maybe call and check again or maybe look for another Dr if they say that they aren't booking July moms yet.
  • My first appt is the week I hit 8 weeks. The only way I get an u/s is if I do the NT scan between 10-12 weeks, otherwise it's a waiting game until the anatomy scan at 18-20 weeks.

So jealous of people that are getting u/s so early

  • Usually 8w for my past pregnancies. Call them back and just request an appointment.
  • My first appointment is this week!!   11w :)

  • As soon as I got my BFP on November 19th I called my doctor and they scheduled my appt. My OBGYN Office normally does appts between 8-10 weeks. However, due to my past pregnancy ending in miscarriage they wanted me to come in early. I had an appt scheduled for Thursday Dec 4th. But I started spotting on Monday night and called my OB the following morning and got in on their next open appt that day and everything was fine. I go back on the 17th for a follow- up appt to make sure everything is still measuring up. If all is well I go back at 12 weeks.

  • My OB aims for the first appointment at 8 weeks, but wasn't able to fit me in until I will be 9 weeks. I will get an ultrasound at this one. I know there are OBs in my area who wait until 12 weeks for the first appointment.

  • My MW sees patients between 8-10 weeks. My appt is scheduled for the day I'll be 8 wks.
They don't do an u/s until the anatomy one at 18-20 wks but we can choose to have an early one. We are planning to ask for one at 12 wks - only because twins run in the family and we'd rather know sooner than later if that's our case!
  • So they finally called me last week and scheduled at the 13.5 week mark .Right now im 11wks . But i have to wait until wednesday when my family doc is back from vaca to have my first ultrasound she still hasnt given me a referal for . I need it done before i go to obgyn.

    Best of luck to you.
  • I had my first appointment when I was 12 weeks along, my OB won't see you until you are 11+ weeks.
  • My first appointment was right after I got my bfp. But that is because I have had multiple miscarriages and so I needed blood work done and once my HCG was at a certain point I went in for an u/s. Currently I'm seeing my doctor every 2 weeks because I have HG and they need to monitor me and make sure I'm staying hydrated.
  • I was almost 5 weeks, so it was about a week ago :) had some side pain and thought it was ectopic. My doctor likes to see patients at 6 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks. Then it's every 3 weeks after that. Blood tests and ultrasounds each time.
  • I would call them back and explain your situation and that you're uncomfortable with the system they have in place. The most important thing is to keep a mom's stress down. If they haven't gotten into together, is it possible to seek a new OB? Because I think we can all agree, a supportive doc and staff is really important, from the beginning.
  • I hope you get in soon!
On the plus side the farther along the more likley youll be to see the heartbeat and make out features.

I had my first one today at 9 weeks 6 days, and ill go back in 2 weeks. Anyways i hope they do call you and give you reasonable notice for your appointment and that you feel they are supporting you by providing care in a timely manner.
  • My first pregnancy it was at 8 weeks. This pregnancy, I wont be seen until 11w4d. But that is only because I made the mistake of switching my health insurance from private, to going through the WA state health exchange, they lost my stuff multiple times, and it took three months for everything to get settled. Then I went to make my appointment, only to find out they had only added two of my three family members....so I wasn't listed. My OB could only get me in at 21 weeks because she is booked solid, so I took an OB that could get me in sooner, and 11w4d was the best they could do. If it wasn't for the insurance screw up, I would have been in at 8 weeks. And since two weeks ago (when I was finally able to make my appointment), I had to renew for 2016, and I switched back to paying more and using private insurance. HAHA

  • I'm going in for my first appointment next week!  I'll be right in between the 9 and 10 week window and can't hardly wait!!!! My doctor said they usually see their patients between 8 and 10 weeks.  Good luck!!! I would call the office to try and schedule even if they said they would call you.
