@antoto here is my chart now that I have crosshairs and FF put my O date to Tuesday which I would've expected if the US didn't prove me wrong. I did have another temp increase today so maybe I O'd for real yesterday.
what day was the ultrasound and how big in millimeters was the follicle? Your chart looks pretty clear, but I am not sure what they look for in the ultrasound.
@TheBorg7of9 my US was on Wednesday and he said it measured 19mm I believe. Dr said it usually releases an egg at 20-22mm. @PocketFullofShells besides this month I feel like my temps have been accurate. I've had a 16day LP and start my period usually 16 days after I O'd unless I guess those have been off as well but I feel like I know what's going on in my body more when I temp so I'll keep doing it.
My nonprofessional guess would be that you had another lead follicle, but it got beat out by the other one.  Regardless, I'd love to see how your cycle turns out. Will you update this thread when you get your period/bfp?
    My TTC History:

    2012: Baby #1

October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)

Have you considered that maybe you have a 14 day LP and your temp just goes up a couple of days before O, kindo of along the lines of what your RE said this cycle or has he confirmed your 16 day LP? That's what I would ask myself right now; it's not unheard of, really. Now, if this were the case, then you can pinpoint O this way, knowing your temp goes up, I don't know, 2 days before you O?

Keep in mind that no one is perfect and bodies are all different. Temping is not 100% accurate for everyone, as some people might have different level hormones at different times, regardless of having PCOS or not. Think of temping as another tool to help you know around when you O'd, narrowing O day down to 1-2 days accuracy.

@TheBorg7of9 I was thinking the same thing, I didn't see any other large follicles on the US but who knows. I'll definitely update everyone at the end of my cycle. My RE wants me to take Provera if AF or BFP hasn't happened in 35 days. But I should start before that if my O date is accurate.

@antoto I just had a gut feeling something was off because my cycles got longer the longer I was off BCPs and it should've been the other way around. I also gained weight really quickly and I've never done that before. Just because your cycles are a little wonky could mean anything or nothing at all. Don't worry

I could understand a slow or delayed temp rise, but what would make the temp go up before ovulation?  The progesterone rise causes the temp rise and the progesterone rise is caused by the corpus luteum which is the left overs of the follicle after ovulation.

I don't know, I guess that would be something her RE might or might not know. It's just weird that the temps are up like that with no O yet, unless she's consistently maturing more follicles than normal? That's the only thing that would cause high progesterone before O.

  • @AlwaysAuntNeverMom I'm a complete and total mindfuck lol. I asked the RE why my temp would rise before O and his response was that it's not always accurate but I just don't understand how. I have multiple LH surges but that's caused from the elevated testosterone so that finally makes sense. This however is just the weirdest thing ever, like I said he showed me the right ovary and the follicle was huge compared to the rest but I don't understand the temp increase at all.

So normally I wouldn't do an update like this here but many of you wanted an update since I was mislead by my temps this cycle. I thought I O'd CD17 but had an US the next day and was confirmed that it hadn't happened yet, which was confusing because my temp had a pretty big spike. Anyways my chart has been all over the place so I wasn't sure how reliable it's been. Well I tested this am because I was planning on consuming tons of alcohol at our Xmas party tn and got faint positives on two tests, got a friend to place a blood test order and it came back positive but it's very early. Again I don't understand my chart at all but here it is, idk why my temps weren't reliable this time but I feel like it helped figure out a lot about myself and cycles.

  • Thanks for the update, after I saw your BFP I was chart stalking you and remembered this post. So you never started Metformin yet correct? I'm so glad you finally got your BFP!

  • I agree with @TheBorg7of9 -- I hadn't initially seen this thread so just by a chart stalk it seemed pretty accurate to me. Congrats again!
  • @TheBorg7of9 I have no idea, I guess I could've O twice. I haven't seen the RE yet, I'm going to wait til next week to update him after I check my levels again and see if they're going up still.

@ReesaAnne16 I didn't start metformin, the RE actually changed his mind and wanted to do Actos instead after this cycle but I'm hoping this bean sticks and I won't have to.

  • Maybe you're releasing 2 eggs. It's possible if they are within 24 hours of each other. ?

Brilliant thought. I wonder if this could be it.

I wish I knew, is that rare without using something like clomid?

It depends on what you consider rare. Obviously there are plenty of people that get pregnant with twins that are not on Clomid. I definitely wouldn't jump to twins though. Just because you may have ovulated two eggs does not mean that both fertilized or implanted.
  • I think it's really interesting how many drs disregard tempting.  Which is really frustrating as women work through this crazy time called TTC.
