I need your creativity!

So at my next appt on Dec 22, we are doing the anatomy scan. Our original plan was to have the tech put the gender in an envelope and my husband and I open it Christmas morning. But.. We got to thinking. The only people I really care to tell the gender to in person are our immediate families. On Christmas Eve every year my family and his family (our parents, my sisters, his brother) get together. We were thinking we would keep telling them that we plan to open it Christmas morning, but actually open it Christmas Eve right before we go see them. So they'll have no clue it's coming! We just can't decide how exactly to tell them... Any ideas?

My DH and I are doing a box of helium balloons for the grandparents to open on Christmas day. (We have our anatomy ultrasound December 21.) You could do cupcakes and fill the inside with the pink or blue. I'm sure there are other ideas but my brain is not working. lol

We would only be telling family right off but we won't be seeing them in person until a day or 2 after Christmas. We have our anatomy scan scheduled on Christmas Eve actually (we already had the day off and it seemed like perfect timing) and we still plan on opening on Christmas.

This gives us a few days to plan gifts though so it helps. What we're getting will obviously tell them the sex, but we have no idea what it will be yet.

I'm getting a gender scan done right before leaving to see family for Christmas so I'm putting together a surprise present (we do the secret Santa thing in our family on Christmas Eve) for my dad to open in front of the whole family with a onesie for his favorite football team and it'll either say future QB or future cheerleader.

We made an ornament for my parents with pink glitter, pink confetti like paper and some other small things I fit in the bulb along with the ultrasound picture and gave to them last weekend. Pinterest has tons of ideas.

I think we've planned every way there is and it has failed every time. I got some ideas here from an earlier post:

1. Bring a boy and girl ornament and have the tech put it in a gift bag and seal it...Open it whenever.

2. Cake (who doesn't love cake??)

3. DH's friend suggested a taco or hot dog party (yes I'm serious)

4. Going along the ornament one...Putting a onesie in a bag.

i would do the ornament idea, then you can hang it on the tree on Christmas Eve!

@doozer1345 I really like the idea of a taco right now! I wish it wasn't so close to my bedtime. haha I love the ornament idea!

I am hopefully doing the same as others... Hoping to find out on the 18th, tell no one, and make little gift boxes to reveal.
It will be a surprise to them because we will tell them we aren't finding out until after Xmas.
I am also thinking of booking a 4d appointment for fun, because I live in a different city then family, and including in the gift an invitation to come meet our little boy/girl... With the time and date

I'm curious as to why you would want to open it right before you go over? Why not just open it with everyone? What will be your plan if you do it before ... ?

@angc4 My husband and I want to open the envelope just us two. This is our first child so it's pretty special for us. He loves to keep special things like that between us two... For example he didn't have a photographer for our engagement because he wanted that memory to be ours alone. Same kind of thing!

I love your 4D idea. We'll have to look into that for our family too.
