Falling asleep with soother...

So DD takes a soother but we don't let her fall asleep alone with it in her mouth. DH commented once "what if the nipple falls off?"...with the type of soother we use this would pretty much be impossible unless it was chewed off. Am I being paranoid about the soother or is this a legit concern?

Re: Falling asleep with soother...

  • If she happens to fall asleep while sucking away, we'll let her. Haven't had any issues, it will just fall out once she's fully out.

  • I was worried about this too!!! It's so crazy what us parents can come up with to worry about! However, they actually say that sleeping with a pacifier can reduce the risk of SIDS. I'm sure the risk of SIDS is higher than the risk of something happening with the pacifier. Because of that, I let my daughter sleep with one :)
  • Make sure to inspect the paci for rips/tears every time before you give it to baby and you should be fine!
