Spotting at 10 weeks?

Anyone start spotting as late as 10 weeks? I have had no bleeding at all this whole time. We saw the heartbeat at 8 weeks, but today I feel slightly crampy and there is brownish discharge. I wouldn't be so freaked out if I hadn't had my slight MS disappear in the last week. I was hoping I was just lucky that it went away early and the easing of symptoms as we get closer to 2nd trimester.

Waiting for the nurse to call back-hoping to be seen today or tomorrow.

Re: Spotting at 10 weeks?

  • I had quite a scary bleed at 10 weeks with clots and ruined jeans. I was convinced it was over but an ultrasound the next day confirmed a healthy baby. The doctor said she couldn't say for sure why it happened but that usually between 10 & 12 weeks the placenta takes over the pregnancy instead of the ovaries and sometimes that shift can cause bleeding. Hope this is some reassurance!

  • Thank you, that helps! I have a 5 pm ultrasound and the bleeding seemed to stop. It's the cramping and the lack of symptoms that have me the most freaked out now. Very light period-type cramps,
  • Glad you got in for an US! Keep us posted.
  • Good luck with your appointment.

  • I had bleeding at 12 weeks with my first pregnancy -- it was scary (and on a weekend night, so I ended up going to the ER), but turned out to be absolutely nothing wrong. The OB on-call nurse that night told me that since brown blood is old blood, it's not as worrisome a sign as bright red blood. Fx everything is OK!

  • I bled at 10 weeks and everything was ok if it helps
  • We lost the baby. Apparently it stopped growing at 8.5 weeks, 2 days after I saw the heartbeat. Devastating.
  • Oh my goodness. I'm so so sorry. That happened to me with one of my 3 losses. I know how you're feeling. Please take care of yourself. Praying for healing.

I am so sorry for the loss! I experienced a missed miscarriage as well and it truly is heart breaking. I can't wrap my head around why, if so many women lose babies in the first trimester, that the standard is still one appointment a month. Even for peace of mind it would be nice to go weekly to check the heart rate.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Please let us know if there is any thing we can do to support you in this.

    Edited because wasn't done
