Our daughter is 5 1/2 months and she doesn't roll on her own. Even half rolls she doesn't do on her own. She qualified for early intervention since birth so we do therapy with her. Our OT and PT said that sometimes babies take longer to roll because they just don't like that position. Right now they are starting to sit up and roll, but if they are sitting up fine and having a interest in that area but not rolling it's ok because the sitting up mechanism is more important. If it was opposite that would be a concern. Rolling but not sitting up. Talk to your pediatrician if you have concerns
My LO rolled over from stomach at 3 weeks. She has only done it a few times and most of the time she can't seem to do it. At like 17 weeks she started rolling over from her back. She totally has that down.
I've seen some techniques like putting a pillow under their stomach during tummy time and having them play with a toy while laying on their side.
My boy will be 5 months on the third. We had a really slow start at tummy time because he would just lay there and scream. At his 4 month appointment the dr. told me he was underweight and could possibly need PT, but she would re-evaluate at 5 months. For the last month we have supplemented formula (now he is a lil chunker), and put him on his tummy all of the time. He eventually got used to it. I think that the extra weight made him more comfortable on his stomach, and also me leaving the area helped a lot! I When I am around him, on his tummy, he thinks that I will pick him up and cuddle him if he screams. As soon as I started leaving toys out and walking away (not completely out of sight, obv) he started becoming so much more independent. Now that he is good on his stomach, we use new, exciting toys to raise up over his head, causing him to look up. The weight of his head pulls him over, and he rolls. After doing this for a week, he started rolling over on his own... muscle memory, I guess.
My daughter rolled from tummy to back at 14 weeks and back to tummy at 18 weeks. Lots of tummy time and let them play just in there diaper. As soon as I did that she rolled over. The wonder weeks app recommended doing that for the last leap she was in.
18 weeks and baby still hates tummy time. The Bump recommends that I push an hour of tummy time each day. I think that's ridiculous. If baby cries, why force it? She is so little still.
She does try to sit up All The Time. Baby crunches, anyone? My guess is that she'll sit up before she rolls over.

It doesn't have to be continues. Once your baby starts to cry, pick them up to try later.
My LO started rolling from tummy to back around 15 weeks, but she's only half rolling from back to front. She has always hated tummy time and used to scream her head off That doesn't happen as much anymore but she still hates it.
Every baby is different, so while there are milestones, I would try not to compare your baby to other babies too much. Unless her pediatrician is worried, I wouldn't be too concerned. I say that even after I spent the day with a baby who was born 8 days after mine and can sit up on his own and is starting to try to stand up.... I started feeling bad about my LO!
My LO started rolling back to tummy the day after she turned 3 months old, she doesn't even try rolling tummy to back though which is frustrating since she rolls on to her tummy during the night which makes me really nervous
My LO one day last week decided to start rolling back to tummy. Now any time she's on her back she immediately flips over and props herself up. It makes changing her a pill. She already hated getting dressed. It's funny too, cause we hated tummy time so much. But now that we can roll over its fun. Though she does this at night. We have to rock her to sleep before we put her down or she will just roll over on her tummy. She'll be 5mo soon. I'm sure one day she will just dicide to sit on her own too lol. She's crazy.
It's crazy... A week before my LO turned 4 months he decided to do some "marathon" rolling. I laid out a huge blanket, laid him on his back, assisted him to roll onto his tummy and adjust his arms, then assisted him from tummy to back. After that, I let him be on his own, turned on my recorder on my phone and he rolled from one end to another... Over and over for like 3 times total. I was astonished and so glad I recorded it because no one would believe me!
Prior to this, tummy time was pretty difficult although it slowly got better during his month 3. We started using a tummy time mat and pillow then after a few minutes I would take the pillow out. Then when he'd get fussy, I would assist him to roll to build his muscle memory and confidence. Looks like it definitely helped, lol.
Mine hates tummy time, but if I put a pillow under his arms and a shatterproof mirror in front of him he does pretty good. He can go from back to front now, and is trying to pull his body upright in a sitting position.
I just kept showing my LO what to do by rolling her over myself the way she would do it on her own. Eventually she did it on her own (and was super stunned lol). Now she rolls all over the place.
My LO hasn't even tried to roll over. Like not even a little bit. Hates tummy time no matter what we do, but he is sitting up on his own! So I consider that a win.
When you say sitting up on their own, do you mean they put themselves in the sitting position & can stay sitting or you sit them up & they stay sitting? My lo is 5 months & can sit up (if I sit him up) for a couple seconds but then gets top heavy & falls over. But I don't think he has even tried to sit himself up.
My LO rolled from back to tummy at 14 weeks and then tummy to back a few days later. I can't even expect to put her down and have her in the same spot for very long. My mom was visiting the other day and was surprised to see her roll 9 times across the room (would've been more if she didn't run out of room). Lol. We are now working on sitting. I can sit her and she can do it for a little bit. She also tried to sit up when she is laying back either in her bouncy seat or when I hold her.
