stomach cramps

Hi everyone, I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. This pregnancy has been so different than my 1st, and I just don't mean the nausea. My stomach cramps up so bad. Every time I roll in bed, or stand up or move certain ways my stomach stays cramping really bad. Like I pulled a muscle kind of feeling. I asked my ob about it and she said it was normal. That is my ligaments pulling and that it is worse with the 2nd pregnancy. I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this as well. Maybe help ease my mind a little. Every time I feel these cramps/muscle pains, I automatically start thinking bad things. Even though the ob said it's normal.

Re: stomach cramps

  • It sounds like round ligament pain, which is very common. From what I understand, women who have had a child before are prone to experiencing RLP earlier in their next pregnancy. Nothing to worry about!

  • Yes cramping is normal as long as it is not severe and not along with bleeding or spotting. If you search for cramping you will find numerous posts discussing this along with things people have found to help :) hope you feel better soon. I've found light stretching and baths help me

  • If you search there is a post not that long ago about STMs and the earlier onset of RLP and cramping. Many of us are feeling it too. If your doc says it's normal I would assume it's okay. Did your doc give you any signs to look for such as bleeding or severe pain which would be cause for alarm?

  • This would fit well here:

Eta: your doc says its normal, so.....?

Maybe you missed these parts: "I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this as well. Maybe help ease my mind a little ... Even though the ob said it's normal."

It seems as though the poster is looking for reassurance from her pregnant peers in addition to the information she received from her doctor.

I missed nothing. "My dr says its normal, but like, is it normal?" Is annoying, especially when there is a DAILY thread for this kind of post. No need to be a special snowflake
  • I would actually call the dr about it. I had an ectopic without bleeding or spotting and the cramps I had were not due to RLP.

  • I think it's totally ok if you are feeling highly concerned to start another thread. It's not like you just started your own post to say you were tired, or extra hungry. Cramping like you are describing sounds a bit more severe than the normal experience. I don't have time to scroll through entire threads of multiple peoples symptoms so I don't even look at that post. When I come to this board and see a question that I might be able to help with, or I am experiencing something similar, those are the ones I look at. It could very well just be RLP, but doctors can only assume based on what you are telling them. It never hurts to get a second opinion on it. I have been experiencing what I think are braxton hicks. It nearly put me into a panic attack. I've been reading online that it's normal to start around 7 weeks especially in subsequent pregnancies, but it's usually not felt until later. I'm making an appointment Monday. I'm sorry you are so uncomfortable. Hopefully it's just your body getting ready for a growing baby and that it subsides soon for you.

  • wow! This place sure has changed since my last two babies. People used to post whatever they wanted...whenever they wanted...regardless if someone else posted about it or not. Why does everyone jump all over someone for posting something that has already been posted??? We are all in the early stages of pregnancy and worried about everything. Who cares if someone posts what they are feeling that day even if there is already a thread about it...anyway...it doesn't bother me. Haha

OP no worries about your post...and my guess would be RLP based on how you described it. Mine has started already...this is #3 for me...and I'm only 5.5 weeks. Nothing to be worried about...if anything use it as reassurance that things are stretching and moving around in there. ;-) <3. That said, I agree with @emnoahmom that if you are extra concerned, it never hurts to call again. Best of wishes for a HHP. <3

  • I am a FTM and I am having what I assume is RLP. I mostly get it when rolling over in bed. My doc said it was normal but I was alarmed at first. Now I put it on my symptoms list to remind myself I really am pregnant!!

  • @BabyC1 so people should be able to post whatever they want wherever they want (your words) as you passive aggressively suggest posts like mine shouldn't be posted?
    No thank you.
  • Ohhh dear @SparkySunshine now you're taking this board wayyyy too seriously and reading way too much into things. Haha. Nothing, personal, friend...seriously! <3
