First cycle after Miscarriage, length?

Hi ladies,

I'm wondering if you all could give me some insight. I miscarried at home on November 4th, but had been bleeding since November 3 / spotting a few days before that. I got what I am assuming is my first post-MC period yesterday giving me a 23 day cycle. Does that sound right? Or is this bleeding I should count as something else? I had an ultrasound a week after miscarrying that indicated an empty womb and very thing lining, with the MD deeming my miscarriage "complete". 

What do you think ladies, does this seem super early for my first AF?

Anybody else experience this? I keep reading that first period should be no shorter than 4 weeks after miscarriage to be considered a period, but this is certainly what it feels like.

That does seem short but I've read you only have to go 20 days with no bleeding after a miscarriage for it to be considered a period. Also you mentioned you had been spotting for a few days before you passed everything so even though it's only been 23 days since your complete miscarriage your body may have been starting a new cycle before that. How long are your cycles normally?

I think it's sounds fine to me. It is a little short but, as mentioned before, your body probably recognized the start of the cycle a few days before you passed everything. I think it's normal, especially since your doc confirmed a completed miscarriage. Cycles can be weird after a MC, when I had my last US confirming the end of the MC, they told me that AF could come in as early as 3 weeks and to just go in if it didn't come in 6 weeks.

Thanks for the insight! I really didn't get any feedback from my doctor on when to expect AF, so I was just kind of googling to figure it out...And asking you all.  My cycles have been 29-32 days the past 6 months we've been TTC. I am still breastfeeding at night, so I assume that has played a role in the variation.

I just got my first AF 31 days after my D&C. I actually was expecting it to take longer; 31 days is pretty normal for me.

After my first mc I had a d and c. Ovulated on cd 29 (normally cd 23) and AF started on cd 33. I recommend temping. In my chart I could see when my hormones started to normalise, but everything is in hindsight. Currently post d&c no 2 and showing simialaler pattern.
