Bedtime

For those of you who are able to put your LOs down at 8:30/9, do you have any tips? My LO usually goes down for the night between 10:00-11:30. She can then sleep until 4/5/6 depending on the night and how much she's willing to take before bedtime. Any tips on how to move to an earlier bedtime or will it come once she's able to sleep longer through night? We had a sleep regression this past week unfortunately.

Re: Bedtime

  • We just started the bedtime routine the same time as our older sons. She just fell into the routine and started going down then too. She was going down about 8 and waking once between 1-5 and then back down until 7:30. The last two nights she dropped the wake up.

  • Do you have a bedtime routine in place? If not I would start one so she begins to associate certain actions with going to sleep for the night. You can do a short version of this at naps too. For now I would work in getting the routine going and then gradually move bedtime up. But she probably isn't ready to sleep through the night yet so I'm guessing you will have a 1 or 2 am feeding in addition to your early morning one if you aim for 8:30/9 pm. Just something to think about. For me personally, I can't fall asleep at 8 pm so I aim for a 9-10 pm last feed that way I can fall asleep as soon as she's done eating and maximize my sleep.
