I never thought I'd see the day, but here we are at 6 months and I have a slight oversupply. In the past few days, my son has been guzzling a lot of milk and then puking it all up, about once, sometimes twice a day.
Could this be because of the large quantity he ingests quickly? I also have a few alternative theories, but this seems the most likely explanation. He recently had the rotavirus vaccine, followed by a bit of a reaction (fever, vomiting and diarrhea), but he's back to his normal self now.
Has anyone else dealt with oversupply and vomiting as a reaction?
When my DD was very young, like newborn to 2 m or so, she would often do large volume spit up / vomiting after feedings. Sometimes it looked like it was the whole feeding. At the time, I attributed it to an immature esophageal sphincter and some degree of reflux. She was gaining weight great and it did not seem to bother her, so I just observed reflux precautions, cut out dairy and it seemed to improve with time. I am not sure why your son suddenly developed this at 6 months, but yes, I do think it may result from quickly ingesting a large volume or possibly the rotavirus vaccine reaction you are describing. If it's only happening once or twice a day (not every feeding), I would just wait it out and see if it improves. Good luck!
