Yes? No? Maybe? I've been getting regular manicures, but would love a gel polish so it lasts nicely throughout my Thanksgiving break/mini vacation. Thoughts?
Ditto what catherinekate said - I ended up with fingernail fungus after going to a cheap nail shop on a Groupon. Disgusting. That was April and it's just now almost grown out.
I'd pay more money and go to a higher end place with a good reputation. I avoid those cheap nail salons like the plague now.
I have an at-home gel kit that I love (Jamberry). It uses a 5-free formula (it doesn't use the 5 common carcinogens found in other formulas) and is safe during pregnancy. There's a little bit of a smell from the gel coats, but nothing compared to nail polish and it's gone once the layers have cured.

It's not a problem. The solvents don't absorb into your nails in significant ammounts. The only downside of gel is that removal takes a long time so you have to smell the stinky acetone that much longer. If the smell doesn't bother you more during pregnancy, go for it. Just stick to a trusted clean salon.
Thank you! My nail salon is clean & the lady who regularly does my nails knows I'm pregnant so she cleans everything again in front of me. They definitely have opi gel so I'll pick out a color from that collection
