1st Trimester

Bleeding first trimester?

This is my second pregnancy ( I have a 21month old) at 8 weeks I bled a little - pink/brown blood mostly when I wiped ( sorry if tmi) went to Dr , had ultrasound , and saw the heartbeat <3 I'm 9 weeks 1 day now and I wiped with red blood ..., but it's gone. Not a lot but still there to make me nervous.. My question is ... Anyone else experience this? Can this be normal? Should I be worried? None of this occurred my 1st pregnancy. Thanks ladies!

Re: Bleeding first trimester?

  • It's most likely nothing.
Your doctor knows better than anyone here; when in doubt, make the call.
You should really use the search function, this question gets asked a lot and it might inform/comfort you to read the previous threads.
    Best of luck.

  • I just asked the same question of the forum. It sounds as though spotting is a very common occurance. I'm 6w2d and I just experienced a bit of spotting while wiping as well without any other symptoms (no cramping). My first ultrasound is sched in a few days. Hope hear a heartbeat - I know at 6 wks it's hit of miss.
So far I'm not too worried about the bit of spotting since I don't have any other symptoms. Good luck to you and congrats!!!

  • Good luck to you. I got for my second ultrasound today to make sure all is going well. I have read the same- can be normal but still scary.. Like I said I didn't experience any of this my first pregnancy not that they should be the same.. Just scary..
  • Thank you!
  • Hi I spotted for the first month brownish blood and cramps and had a healthy baby so I think you are fine
  • If the bleeding stopped then you shouldn't be worried.

  • I spotted pretty much the entire first trimester; I know how scary it can be. My OB told me not to stress about it unless I also had severe cramping or if I bled enough to fill a pad within an hour. I had a retroverted uterus and my cervix dropped super low as it was straightening back up, so just my every day walking around at work would irritate it. Put in a call to your OB if you're worried, but try not to stress about it if it stops and there's no cramping associated with it.

  • Im 19+3 today and spotted on and off since the beginning. Going three weeks without it and hope it stays that way. I was put on progesterone early ob to make sure my levels remained good since i had a previous mc in may. I was also on moderate bed rest until wk 13. I have a friable cervix so no sex or intense activity for me this pregnancy. I still have to work from home two times a week to rest.

Long story short....it can be normal and there can be causes. Your doctor would know best. I am FTM so i freaked each time. Baby has aways looked good and growing strong. I can feel him kick now! Take care and maybe take it easy till you see the doc.

    Best wishes!
