  • @catherinekate 'go suck a duck,' I haven't heard that in forever. Bwahahaha! Love it!

  • I have a very small frame with wide hips but my OB said it was not possible to know the actualy size of my pelvis without a sizing US. Since I was so super enormous I had to have a weight US, fluid US, and pelvic US with DS. When my mom had my brother she almost lost him due to his size and her tiny pelvis. OB highly reccommended a CS but she said I could safely try on my own (since I was so pushy) and that they could intervene when neccessary. It ended in c section after a very long time pushing and baby going nowhere (his little crown was right there for over an hour so he was super cone headed). There was meconium and they weren't comfortable with me spending anymore time trying to get him out.
If you end up needing a CS, it's not the end of the world.

Good point! I think they give you a set amount of time to push. Then if there is no progress they take you to the OR. Definitely worth a try at a natural and see how you go.
  • @Bear14+ I didn't want to hijack the ultrasound thread but I wanted to update you on what my OB friends said about my ultrasound, since we finally had the chance to catch up with them. We have a video of the ultrasound where the nub shot was taken. It pans from one leg, to in between the legs, to the other leg and out to an arm that was sticking straight out. We sent the video and picture to them and they think boy! I'm excited to see in January if that is what we are having!

They also reassured us about the lack of movement in the baby since it was sleeping. It seems like everyone has bouncy wiggly babies when they go in and ours hardly moved, but the heartbeat was perfect. It did respond to being prodded by the US probe.

I also think it's weird how with an ultrasound you are looking at cross sections of the baby, depending on where the tech has the probe. I always just assumed that you'd only see the outside of the baby. But when I thought about it after our ultrasound I felt kind of silly for even thinking that way in the first place! It's going through my body so of course it would go through the baby's too!
