STM check in

Hi all, my little one is now 6 weeks and I also have a 2 year old at home. It was very tough in the beginning, but it feels like we're finally getting into a new normal. How is everyone else doing? Is your first child jealous or do they love their new sibling? How do you juggle two kids that seem to always need/want your attention?

Re: STM check in

  • This is a daily struggle for us... I have a 2.5 yo DS and if he's tired, he gets really possessive of me. He gets up and cries if the baby cries in the middle of the night and tells DH to take the baby when I'm nursing her.

Screen time limits have also gone out the window because I'm nursing DD so much during the day and I need something to keep DS in one place where I can see him.

Naps and sleep are on a very loose schedule, too! If it weren't for DH working from home, I think I'd go crazy.

DD is only 2.5 weeks, so I'm glad to hear things might become more normal by 6 weeks or so! Hoping to find our groove at some point.

  • My DD is 3.5 weeks and my DS is 2 and 1/2. We get through the day pretty well bUT bedtime is a mess in my house. My DS Is always over tired which makes him very clingy because he never takes nap aND my dd just wants to nurse the entire time im trying to get DS all situated.
  • Mine are 5 weeks and 18 months and everything was going pretty well until last weekend when my 18 month climbed out of his crib for the first time and broke his elbow. We transitioned him to a toddler bed since the crib is unsafe and he won't sleep easy now in the bed and when we finally get him to sleep he wakes many times during the night. My husband and I are so exhausted, we don't know what to do!?? The days are good, just the nighttime and getting everyone to sleep. The infant is sleeping pretty well, only waking 1-2 times per night.
