Doppler Readings

Hey other mom-to-be's! My husband and I are expecting our first baby! YAY! So, we had our first initial OB/GYN apt yesterday where she used a doppler to find baby's heartbeat. We are at 11w6days today, but she was unable to locate the heartbeat after searching for about 10 minutes. We have scheduled an ultrasound for this coming Tuesday. Anyone else have this problem when they had their baby? My Dr. kept reassuring me that this is totally normal, and my mom said the same thing happened to her when she was pregnant with me. I know I should stress, but dang Tuesday is so far away. Any advice or words of encouragement would be amazing. Thank you all!

Like others have told you, it's normal. It's very early to hear a HB- and most docs have a hard time before about 13 weeks. Think about how tiny baby is, then how much tinier their heart is....

I had a Doppler reading yesterday at exactly 12 weeks and could hear the heart beat loud and clear. My only concern is how slow it was, the doctor said 96 heart rate! But again he wasn't an OB and it wasn't an ultrasound, so I hope for better results next week.

WIth my DS, my doctor couldn't find a heartbeat with the doppler at 12 weeks.  We followed it with a u/s that showed everything was just fine, a heart rate of 164.  They just said he was a mover - and that can make them hard to find on the doppler.  I panicked, and I think that is normal, but there is a very good chance everything is fine!  It is totally normal to take some time to find that little heart beat.

My ob with my first was unable to find DD with a dopplar. She was about 12 weeks. I had heard it with our hospitals Dopplar the night before though. Sometimes if they are moving its difficult to find.

I literally just got back from the DR & he couldn't hear a heartbeat but did do an ultrasound & everything is just fine! I'm 11W3D It's just a little too early. Don't worry mama!!
