Body Changes and Weight Movement

I know that pregnancy is often described as changing a woman's body shape, but I am wondering if any of you have noticed any physical changes in where your weight distribution is. I'm 9w1d, an I have actually lost 8lbs (not from throwing up, and I'm eating whenever I'm hungry, which is often). However, my stomach area is rocking the blump hardcore. I'm a larger woman (size 14), but I've never really had a stomach before, and now I just feel like I'm carrying around a giant ball.  Meanwhile I realized that my collar bones are becoming more pronounced and my normally overly generous hips are feeling a little slimmer. Is it normal for these changes to be happening so soon? Is it all in my head? Has anyone else experience/ are you currently experiencing these slight changes?

I've lost weight yet my waist and blump are way bigger too!

  • I haven't gained or lost a single pound but none of my pants fit! My body is definitely shifting around.
  • I'm right there with you. 10w1d and noticing my weight shifting to my belly and away from arms and such. My pg best friend said the same thing. She's 15 weeks.

Yup! I'm down 10 lbs but my pants are tighter than normal and I'm almost a cup size up. I'm not entirely sure where the weight is coming off but my shape is definitely changing.
  • I'm 10+5 and have stayed the exact same weight thus far. The only thing I've noticed is that I have some serious bloat going on, and my boobs are fuller. My overall shape and weight distribution hasn't really changed.
  • Not so much yet this time but in my previous pregnancies my weight always shifted. If you looked at me from behind I looked skinner than I do when I'm not pregnant.

  • I've only gained about a pound or two (at 11w3d) but I feel like my collar bone is more pronounced too and my waist feels trimmer (still have a bit of a blump). But holy hips!!! I feel like they've doubled in width and my ass could star in a rap video. So terrible.
  • I'm down a few lbs but none of my pants zip up comfortably and my stomach is a massive blump. Fun times right?
  • I was just telling my DH last night that I was noticing this. My weight hasn't really changed. Pre-pregnancy I would go up and down 5 lbs over the course of any given week usually and it's the same now. The scale isn't saying anything I didn't see before. But I've already transitioned into maternity pants and leggings because my bloat is out of control. I've noticed it ever more in the last couple days that sucking in just isn't remotely an option anymore.

  • Yup. Agree with everyone else. First pregnancy, I'm down 6 pounds, my boobs are popping out of my bra, and my pants don't fit anymore. No idea where I lost it from but I'm rocking a hardcore blump right now
  • I'm around the same weight give or take a pound here and there but 'blump' is the best way to describe what's happening here. UGH.
MY boobs were soooooo sore and swollen for over a month, but I'm 10w3d now and happy that they've gone down for now. What I noticed was that my 'natural state' was sort of flexing my abs/holding my stomach in place and now my body is like, 'excuse me, we need this room.' So, yeah. Blumpy.
  • I'm 12w1d and I'm up 5lbs. I'm not shocked because I went from running 5-6 days a week to only running 1-2 (don't want to run when I'm exhausted and feeling like poop!), and all I craved through the first trimester was carbs, fats, and sweets. I was hoping I wouldn't start gaining so soon, but whatever will be will be.
  • You're totally normal and I'm with you.

  • Thanks for the responses, ladies. I just wasn't prepared for changes this soon.  Pregnancy is definitely an adventure.
