First time leaving baby

Tomorrow dh and I are planning on going to a movie which means having a babysitter for the first time. I am very nervous about leaving LO as I haven't been away from him for more than an hour at a time. Dh's mom is going to come out and watch him but I just am so worried somethings going to go wrong or she's going to do something I won't like. Plus he never takes bottles cause I'm always home with him so I'm worried he won't take one and be starving the whole time I'm gone. I know I have to leave him sooner or later but I'm having kinda a hard time with it. Any suggestions on making it not so stressful?

Re: First time leaving baby

  • Has he tried bottles at all? I've only left my DD twice, once with grandparents and the other with DH. In a few days I need to leave her with grandparents again and I'm really worried. I know they have raised two boys and they turned out ok. Even though they didn't raise them the way I want to raise her, I know it's only for a short time and they can't mess her up. Lol.
  • I felt the same way when I left my LO with my MIL for the first time. I've only done it once....but, that's only because I do really just love being with my LO. :)

You deserve to have an evening out with your husband. I have to remind myself that I am not just a mom, but I'm also a woman and a wife and we still need to do things as a couple.

Your MIL has experience with babies and can probably handle most anything. If she does something you don't agree with, tell her so that she's knows the next time.

Your baby is in good hands. Enjoy your date night and each others company.

  • He's tried bottles less than a handful of times. He will take them with a lot of coaxing but then still thinks he needs to nurse right after. Maybe I'll have to try one this afternoon and see how it goes.
  • It's good that he'll take it. I really need to start getting my DD used to bottles again. It just takes practice. What movie are you seeing? Have fun.
  • I left DS for the first time last Saturday and it was stressful for me, but we survived. I fed him before we went out, but he still ended up wanting a bottle. Apparently the only time he cried was when DH and I came home. Apparently he had so much fun with the grandparents that he didn't want to see me.

    Have fun!

  • Remember your LO will probably take a bottle from someone else better than he will from you. With you he knows he can get it straight from the tap
  • So it went ok. I fed him before I left and he only took about an ounce from a bottle while we were gone which isn't very much. He fell aslee about 830 so I'm just going to let him sleep. He'll probably be up a lot earlier than normal to eat. I had to pump some to relieve the pressure. I worried the whole time we were gone which wasn't too fun but I think we just have to keep doing stuff to get used to it. Also it feels so weird to not be the one to put him to bed. I almost want to wake him up to feed him and put him back to sleep.

We went to see the new hunger games movie. I really enjoyed it even though my dh talked shit through the entire movie. He thinks they're ridiculous. He's the one who asked if I wanted to go so I'm not sure why he got so annoying. He apparently thinks he's funny when he does that. He's not.

I'm so glad everything went okay! And at least your little one took the bottle, so that's a start. I also want to see it and don't worry they just can't understand them lol
