STM and "Showing"

I know this is really just because of bloat but I was literally just stopped in the hallway at work by a stranger asking me if I was pregnant! I'm only 6wks! Are other STMs having trouble keeping things concealed?? I had an abdominal wall separation last pregnancy and a c-section and feel like my abs just pushed out as soon as I knew I was knocked up. Chugging water now, eating fiber, trying to eat healthy but not working out much due to morning sickness and a toddler ... any other tips? Or.. maybe i'll just embrace it. That feels easier.

Re: STM and "Showing"

  • Get a Bella band and embrace it. There's honestly not much that I've found that keeps the bloat at bay for very long.

  • I say embrace it.  I haven't broken out the bella band, but my bloat hasn't been as bad yet (I am a week behind you though).
I have gained weight prior to being pregnancy though, so I have been wearing looser tops and no one can really tell.

  • I'm the same way! Luckily I'm a SAHM and can avoid people pretty well right now ;-). I don't know what I would have done if I was still teaching! I haven't broken out my band yet either, but that's mainly because I live in yoga pants and leggings!! Not really sure what I'm gonna do about waiting it out through Thanksgiving. Thank goodness it's sweater and scarf season!! Hopefully I can cover enough no one will suspect anything.
  • Yep! The bloat is real. I don't conceal it unless I'm at church really where people don't know. Thank God for cardigans and long sweaters.

  • Yep! I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow and I swear I have a 5 month belly already! Except it's my whole abdomen instead of just lower belly. I hate the bloat. I'm way too nauseous for a belly band - it pushes too much and makes it worse.
Thank goodness I'm a SAHM this time and I don't have to wear real clothes very often. I had a definite bump at 12 weeks with DD, so I'm expecting to pop early. It's like my ab muscles just gave up altogether the second this LO implanted.

I have had four exploratory laperotomies so have had my torso cut vertically and horizontally. I like high waisted lulu lemons to hold in the bloat at this early point.

... I've had my belly band out since day one. Looks like I need to embrace it. Thanks ladies!
