Sneezing

I searched the boards, but didn't find something on this, so here goes: Anyone find that they're sneezing a lot more than usual now?

Re: Sneezing

  • Yup, But I figure it is where the sinuses and stuff amp up from the increased blood supply.   That is my theory anyway.

  • Yep. Increased blood supply can cause the nasal passages and sinuses to swell.
  • I literally just sneezed and thought of this. And DH commented the other day that it seems like I'm sneezing more. I'm also going with the increased blood supply theory.
  • Yeah, I figured it was something along those lines as well - glad to know I am not the only one constantly sneezing, but sorry you guys are

  • Yeah, I'm sneezing a lot more and lately have the added fun of peeing my pants a lil every time!
I believe the technical term for this is "snissing" ;). Pregnancy is so glamorous.
In that case, I have been snissing every day for a week!

Haven't snissed (yet!) But yes, i have been sneezing A LOT pretty much since week 6.. im 14+4 now
  • Forgot to say-- I've been getting RLP with my sneezes-- it's actually one of the first pregnancy symptoms that showed up for me.
  • Yep! Since the very beginning I've had a stuffy nose and have been sneezing like mad. My allergies have been absolutely terrible and it's not even my typical "allergy season". Definitely have been snissing for the past few weeks to add to all this glory
  • huh that's so funny because for the last 6 weeks or so I sneeze about 3 times a day or more. I never usually sneeze unless I'm sick. I had no idea it was actually a "symptom" of pregnancy

  • Nothing to add but same to all of this! Keep thinking I'm getting sick because of increased congestion, then remember it's been like this for months now.
  • I seriously never even thought to correlate it to pregnancy, but the increased blood flow totally makes sense! Between that and all of the dust and fall weather, I'm sneezing (and occasionally snissing) way more than I'd like.
  • Yes! I've already had a sinus infection. And have been sneezing what feels like a thousand times a day. Realistically, it's more like 10.

  • Yes sneezing and nose bleeds
  • Yeah, I'm sneezing a lot more and lately have the added fun of peeing my pants a lil every time!

Just wait until post partum!! DD is 2.5 and (even before this pregnancy) I still pee my pants every time I sneeze, if I have a really bad cough, and on the rare occasion I've tried to jump on a trampoline. I HATE snissing!
  • Omg snissing...I thought the RLP was bad when I sneezed and now I have something even better to look forward to!
  • I wake up, realize I have to sneeze, and cover myself in snot before I have a chance to reach for a tissue. It's awesome.

I've been sneezing a lot too, probably for the past 2 weeks (I'm 16w2d now). I had heard the term peezing instead of snissing. Comes down to the same thing though: ladies, do your kegels! You don't have a baby kicking on your bladder yet, and definitely haven't given birth...so yeah, imagine what that'll be like after. You don't have to wear diapers or change undies every time you sneeze for the rest of your life!
  • I sneeze more now too. I also have a terrible nasal drip and am constantly hacking up phlegm. Very attractive.

  • Congestion was the very first sign for me. I was congested for a couple of weeks without actually getting sick and that's how I knew that something was a little bit different in me. I'm at 14 weeks and still feeling congested sneezing a lot my eyes get very itchy and I've never had allergies before.

It lightened up just a bit but definitely not something pleasant or even expected during this time. I get the nausea and back pain but the inability to breathe?? I guess I am plugged in from both ends =\

  • Definitely. I didn't know until after I got pregnant that allergy symptoms can increase with pregnancy. So weird.

  • When yall are sneezing, do you get a pain in the veins that go down the sides of your stomach? For me, it hurts like crazy for 3 seconds.

Sounds like round ligament pain (rlp), though it's not actually in the veins but rather the ligaments.
  • I get regular allergy shots. Last week was my monthly appointment and leading up to that the nasal issues and sneezing was horribad! I assumed allergies. But nope, got my shots and no improvement. So must be a pregnancy thing. But atleast I haven't pissed myself. Yet.
