How long did you wait to try again after miscarriage?

Hi all, I miscarried at 10 weeks. We saw heartbeat at 8 weeks appointment, at 10 week it was no longer and only grew a small amount since last appointment. I opted for d&c, and still recovering/bleeding slightly. My husband wants to try again asap, my dr. said after first period I was good to try, and I'm scared! I don't know if I want to wait a few cycles to let my body get back to normal, or if I should jump right back in. I see some people had successful pregnancies right after d&c. I'm scared to lose again. What did you do?

My doctor told me to wait 3 cycles and we waited 4 because I just wasn't emotionally ready to go through it again. It really depends on how you are feeling emotionally and if you feel like your body can handle it. Like I said for me personally I had to have some time to heal. If you need time to heal then let yourself have that time! I'm so sorry for your loss! Sending you good thoughts and prayers!

We waited three mo, based on my doctor's rec. We saw a fertility specialist who believed that was an arbitrary number, but my "period" was so light after my D&C that I would have been worried about my lining not being built back up enough to support a pregnancy. I never asked, but that's be a good question to ask at your follow-up if you're ready to try again.

our doctor told us we only needed to wait for my Hcg to be at zero and did not have to wait any number of cycles. I think the fear of loosing another baby will be there whether you wait one cycle or 4 and you just need to do what feels right to you. best of luck!

I waited one cycle after my last mc in July. But when I had my first successful pregnancy after two losses a few years ago it was immediately after my d&c. My doctor said there was no real reason to wait to start trying again this time unless I just needed time emotionally, which I did.

We were told to wait one cycle.  We did and got pregnant the second month trying.

We waited until after my first period, and got pregnant on thr second cycle.

My doctor advised to wait until my period returns as that is the body's way of saying it's ready. I got pregnant during that cycle. Basically, listen to your doctor as they know your situation better than we do. Wanting to try right away is a normal stage of grief. Hang in there. It'll happen again. Prayers to you!

Our original doc said to give it three months, but I switched docs and my new one said to start trying whenever ready. We waited two cycles and started trying again and got pregnant on the 4th cycle of trying. Now over 9 weeks pregnant and hoping this one sticks around. :-)

Good luck! When you feel ready and calm is a great time to start trying again.

I had a miscarriage and D&C in June of this year, and my doctor told me to wait one cycle before trying again. I ended up waiting a little longer because I wanted to be in a better place emotionally. Just found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant I think it's up to you when you feel ready, it's different for everyone. Good luck mama!

We waited one full cycle.  We got pregnant on the first month.  We are only 5 weeks so not sure if it is going to be our rainbow baby or not.

We were NTNP for the one cycle after our loss. It took 15 months to conceive again. Follow your doctor's recommendation, and your heart. If you don't feel ready get, give it some time. Loss is so difficult - try again when you feel ready. We are glad we tried one cycle after our loss because it took so long to conceive.
