7dp6dt beta on the "high end of normal"

edited November 2015 in Pregnant after IF
Hi all! Im 32 and my husband is 33. After 30 months, a miscarriage, 6 failed IUIs, and a failed frozen transfer... We finally got our BFP! On 11/9 we transferred 2 PDG tested embryos - a 6ba and a 5bb. When my nurse called today on 7dp6dt she said my beta was 298.5 and on the "high end of normal." She indicated that it could be twins, but I would know more after my repeat blood work on Thursday and my first ultrasound on Wednesday. What were everyone's first betas? I know higher betas aren't always indicative of multiples, but hoped you all had personal experiences to share!! Thanks in advance ladies!!

Re: 7dp6dt beta on the "high end of normal"

  • Congrats on your bfp!!!!!

I know it's hard not to over analyze things and look for others stories that are comparable, but you're right that betas are not indicative of multiples. So don't put too much stock in all of it and hopefully the ultrasound gives you great news!
But to answer your question, at 10dp5dft my first beta was 242 and we were expecting a singleton, then my betas were 657 and 1514. At our ultrasound we saw two flicking heartbeats. We're now 33w4d along with twins.

Good luck at your next appointments.
  • Congrats! And good luck on your next beta and u/s :)

  • My betas were 148 at 13dpo and only just at 15dpo, then 668 at 17dpo.
I had triplets, so for me, the betas were not indicative of multiples.

Two years, two losses and three IUIs...

    We are having TRIPLETS!

  • My US was this morning - saw two gestational sacs! I'm 5w1d today, so very early. One had a yolk sac already and measured 5w3d and the other didn't have a yolk sac yet but measured on target at 5w1d. Hcg levels jumped from 971 last Friday to 11,670. Kinda worried that my one little one doesn't have a yolk sac yet, but I know its early so I'm going to stay positive. Next US is next Wednesday.
  • Congrats!! 2 gestational sacs is exciting. 5w1d is, as you noted, very early. Good good luck next Wed - fx for another great US!

  • Yup! 5 weeks is soooo early! It's hard when they don't see something, but it's so normal. Most REs won't even do an u/s till 7 weeks for this reason that it does cause extra stress. Congrats!!! Sounds like great news to me!

  • I just had my first ultrasound 7w3d. (I used Clomid and timed intercourse). Dr saw two sacs, one with a baby with a solid heartbeat. I go back in a week and. A half to see if anything developed -- or came out of hiding -- in the other sac (or if it reabsorbed). My infertility specialist isn't releasing me to my regular OBGYN until that issue has settled itself. I'm a bit on edge about it. Hoping that a little one was just hiding in there, but, if not, hoping it reabsorbs so the little one that isn't playing hide and seek can progress. Dr seemed positive, though, so not too nervous. My betas were slightly high.
