Can't wait to be normal again

I am 27 weeks and I have had a great experience with being pregnant but I can't wait to be normal again. I am an avid runner and I decided to stop while I was pregnant and it's killing me. I can't wait to be able to go to a Mexican restaurant order a margarita and go on a run after work if I want. Am I being selfish or does anyone else feel this way?

I'm confused as to why you gave up running if you were an avid runner before. Plenty of people continue to run throughout their pregnancy, me included.

    Edit: run not rub! Lol!!

  • I know how you feel, but your version of normal is never going to be the same once baby gets here anyway. People tell me ALL the time I won't want to drink after the baby gets here because I'll be too tired or it will make me feel like shit haha.

I don't think missing your old life is selfish. I think continuing to do things you know aren't safe because you want to would be selfish. Everything becomes about taking care of your baby once you find out you're pregnant and it's overwhelming especially since your partner doesn't have to give anything up! You can do this though.
  • Your life won't go back to pre-baby normal. But you will eventually find the new normal with your baby. It's not selfish to feel that way, but I just want you to be aware that the life won't be the same before and after the baby. It will be better, and different.

  • As pp's have stated your life won't ever be how it was before you were pregnant however, it will be better. I would honestly never want my life to go back to the way it was before I had my kids. They have completely changed it but I love every second of it! :)

  • If you're talking about life wise, NOTHING will be normal, like it was before baby and pregnancy. That's all part of being a mom!

I'm normally an avid runner as well but I was so sick the first 3 months that I could barely take care of my toddler let alone go for a run. By the time the sickness went away I was so weak and it took another month to gain any energy back. now that I'm feeling better, my belly is so large running is just beyond uncomfortable. So I'm also waiting until I have the baby to run again. I have dreams about running, though. I really miss it. Sadly not everyone can run or continue their normal exercise routine during pregnancy.
  • It's not selfish to wish you could go for a run after work, or have a margarita. However, your life will never be the same again. In a good way. I get looking forward to the end of pregnancy and getting certain things back (your body, your hobby, etc.) I feel that way, too. Hang in there...not much time left. I suggest a running stroller. I had one and LOVED it when my son was little. I could run whenever I wanted when on leave and he loved being in it. Also, the added exertion needed to push the stroller was good exercise.
