Has anyone found out for certain whether or not we can have the eggnog latte? I keep asking the baristas and they are not helpful...I emailed the company and they redirected me to somewhere else on the website. Annoying. I want one so bad!
I didn't even think of that, but I highly doubt they're using anything that's uncooked or unpasteurized. I've been adding some to hot chocolate since I don't drink coffee. It's delicious.
I am sure their egg nog is pasteurized. Do they even sell unpasteurized in the store?! I think nowadays the only way you're getting 'real' egg nog is if you make it yourself. Drink away! Oh and if you get a hot one that should make it even less worrisome.
I'd assume they are using a pasteurized mix...and that the heat of making it a latte is also helping the risk. If you are worried ask them to make it extra hot or however people order their lattes hotter and just wait for it to cool enough to avoid burning your tongue.
Ex Starbucks barista here... They actually use egg nog that is ordered with their milk so the brand will vary depending on the location and who they purchase from. But they dilute it with milk and steam it. It only gets up to 170 ish degrees (can't remember exact temp since its been a while). There's always risk when dairy is involved even just with a regular latte.
OMG what is this eggnog hot chocolate you speak of? As soon as I leave my 35 week checkup I'm heading straight for Starbucks lol ... Oh and now I'll have to try a cranberry bliss bar too. For some reason I've never tried it!
@browneyes_326 - I'm not a coffee drinker, so I put the eggnog in a hot chocolate instead of a latte. It's very good. The cranberry bliss bar is probably my favorite Starbucks pastry/treat!
It should be fine..... I worked at Starbucks last summer. I'm pretty sure I'm remembering correctly that they use Borden brand, so check that at the grocery store, if you're nervous about ingredients. There's a risk with anything you put in your body, so...... I say drink up, mama! I miss being able to drink coffee. I found that I'm allergic.
@ATolentino89 165 degrees is the temp meat is supposed to reach to be completely cooked, so if 170 is the temp reached by a latte it is theoretically "completely cooked."
What!!!! They aren't serving the eggnog latte down here in alabama!!!! Its my favorite is it actually on the menu or do you just ask for it?
So I asked for it and he said 'I'm sorry we're out of eggnog.' Did not see it on the menu. Now I'm crossing my fingers that they are really 'out' ... Meaning they had it and ran out versus aren't getting it! That would be weird ... Trying to think why eggnog may not be a popular drink down here!!!
