Good shoes for the OR

Hi!

Any suggestions on shoes for the OR? I'm going to school for surgical tech and had my first clinical today and my feet are so sore from my (new) sketchers! I'll never last with those shoes especially when I'm 7 months pregnant... I guess it will take some getting used to standing for long periods of time in one spot anyways but shoes will help! I've been googling but I'd like any ones opinion who stands on their feet for long hours! Thanks!

I'm a critical access nurse and we do 12 hour shifts. I love mizunos volleyball shoes. They are light weight and good support. I also like the gum shoe bottoms on the volleyball shoes for slick floors.

  • One word: dansko
You don't want anything with a porous top like tennis shoes bc blood can seep onto your sock through it, even if you have shoe covers on.
  • I second the danskos. I just worked three 12 hour shifts in a row in mine and my feet are feeling fine. I feel like once you have the shoe covers on any shoe can become a bit slippery.
  • Danskos are great, although I've always been a sneaker person.

I've had a couple pairs of nike walking shoes or cross trainers that have gotten be through 12 hour shifts!
