TTTS scanning

Hello,

We went in for our NST scan today at 13 weeks. They confirmed the babies share a placenta and Twin A is measuring 12&5 and Twin B 13&3.  When do most Doctors usually start you on the bi weekly or weekly scans for TTTS? They don't have us coming back for another 4 weeks so I will be just over 17 weeks.  Thanks

Re: TTTS scanning

  • They are in compliance with the starting timepoint for TTTS Surveillance cheretta07. Week 16 or 17 is OK. In the meantime, for a bit of extra protection, weigh yourself daily in an effort to find a weight spike that coukld mean a buildup of fluids around 1 twin, Polyhydramnios. If more than 1kg of weight gain is seen in a 24 hours period, call your doctor to get a fresh scan, that very day if at all possible.

  • I was also wondering about this. I'm pretty sure we are mono/di (indicated on insurance paperwork) and they do share a placenta however my OB never confirmed it with me. I'm 17.5 weeks along and haven't seen a MFM yet nor has my doctor said anything about it. My ultrasound was at 16 weeks and I don't have another until 20.5. I'm a little concerned. I did call and leave her a message about a referral but there is only one Perinatolgist within our network that rotates to 7 different places. I'm a little worried about getting in quickly. Any thoughts for moms that have dealt with this? Should I be worried? I also joined the mono/di Facebook group.

  • I'm 13 weeks today.  My doc said at 16-18 weeks we will start scans every 2-3 weeks.

  • I'm hoping to get into the specialist next week and get his opinion. I called my doc today and she sent all the stuff over for the referral, now it's just a matter of getting in..

Mine were di/di, but a friend of mine was mo/di and got monitored every 3 weeks.

  • I saw the Perinatologist today sort of unexpectedly at my NT scan and we are starting scans at 16 weeks.  I also have one scheduled at 18 and the anatomy with the peri instead of my ob at 20 weeks.  Plus regular appointments with my ob. Exhausting!

  • I'm trying to get in to see the Perinatolgist, they called today to make an appt and couldn't find one opening anytime soon. So they were going to call me back and try to find a time to squeeze me in. I'm hoping I can get in next week, I'll be 18 weeks tomorrow. My Ob appt isn't until April 11, so I'm hoping for one in between just to be on the safe side.
