Re: **2nd Tri Check-in 11/16**

  • Wow I was shocked to see my name second from the top!!! Yippee!! Only one more check in on 2nd tri!! Yikes!!

I am finding it hard to manage my GD with holidays approaching. I couldn't pass up a s'more at my neices bday party and could tell a difference in how I felt. The past weekend was hard to eat right and today I feel starving from the lack of carbs. My stomach got used to them really fast.

We did our maternity photos yesterday!! They turned out better than I hoped!! I am so glad I didn't wait till my face gets puffy and huge ankles bc i wouldn't be wearing that dress or shoes in a month! Haha!!

QOTW: I have been buying clothes on clearance, just received the fabric I designed for the nursery so I am excited to start picking paint and curtains and doing some DYI projects! I am still in the middle of merging 2 very full boy rooms into one. But I think today after DS#2 wakes up from his name I will make some headway as tons of stuff is sitting outside the door waiting to go in. Then DH Needs to get his drill ready to hang stuff on the walls!!! My mind is racing with all I want to get done.

  • Hi ladies! Not much new on my end. Just went for part 2 IPS bloodwork last Friday and probably won't hear anything back until my next doctor's appointment in early December (unless something comes up I guess). Belly is growing, I'm officially off diclectin, and all is well.

QOTW: friends and family already gave us a few things, but until this weekend we hadn't bought much. However, the crib we wanted needed to be ordered 14-16 weeks in advance, so we got that this weekend. Well we changed our mind a few times, then I liked another one that DH is unsure about (I think because he think it looked girly because of the bedding that was on it, and we don't know what we're having yet). I promised to have awesome decoration for the nursery no matter the sex of the baby and I got the one I wanted. Doesn't look girly on this picture :)
  • Welcome @KidShrink and yay for your almost-trimester-graduation @jeannaqueena!

I just came back from an appt with my OB. All is well in week 21. Our anatomy scan went great as well (I didn't check in last week because we were in Disney World). So far, all signs point to a healthy little man.

QOTW: We are moving next week so I haven't bought much for the baby. Once we are settled, in I think we'll start figuring out the nursery and decor. We might go with little dragons. :) While we were in WDW, I picked up a cute onesie, but I definitely feel behind with getting ready! So much to do and not enough time...

Not much happening here. I can't believe I got off so easy in my 1st trimester and now I have had to many issues. Besides the migraines, the past few days I have been miserable with constipation and gas. It's starting to get better, but my word, never in my life have I had issues as these lol. It's really made it difficult to function. I managed to get a little bit done with packing up the home office. I just do a little at a time and accept what I can achieve. I've been working out some nursery decor ideas, tracking down items I like. I have the crib picked. Thinking of doing registry shopping in the next couple weeks. DH has made it clear that he is fully confident in my judgement (meaning he's not into the shopping thing) so I've recruited the BFF to come with. I'm hoping to get to a baby boutique show this Saturday to check out some handmade items.

@jeannaqueena I love love love your pictures!
@KidShrink That crib is adorable. It's not girlie, it's just precious
@CTinNV Good luck on your move.

QOTW: I've bought a few little items like onsies, receiving blankets, etc. Family has passed down a few things. My favorite purchase thus far is the wee little pink converse.

@krbjoy : Oh I've been constipated too. Better the past few days (I've made a very conscious effort to eat more fruits and veggies and reduce dairy a bit...I've always loved my milk and cheese, but the past few weeks have brought that to a whole other level), and hopefully it stays that way.

Love the shoes! DH's aunt saw some the other day and was in love, but they were very boyish, so we told her to hold off a few more weeks! We'll be finding out the sex on Dec 11 and just can't wait to see baby again :)

Thanks for the comments on the crib! I didn't want a dark brown one, and DH didn't want white, so we made a grey compromise. He just loved one that I found was a little too much (huge wooden backboard and quite ornate...fit for a little king, but that's not what I'm raising ;)
What I like is that he 3 panels are covered and fabric and can be removed to change the fabric. That'll be fun as baby grows to make it something that fits with their interests at the time. It's a 4-in-1 crib, so baby will have it at least until he/she decides to move out!
  • @CTinNV : wow, good for you for going to Disney right before moving! I couldn't imagine that! Nice break I guess though! Good luck with the packing and the move!
  • I've been feeling great, which of course makes me worry that something is wrong! Haha I have another appointment this Thursday so we'll find out for sure if they're one boy and one girl.

QOTW: I've been trying not to buy anything "just in case" but this past week Kohls had some awesome deals so I bought a TON of sleepers and onesies! They're so tiny and cute, I cried as soon as i got them in the mail! It's feeling so real now

Not much to report here, just been super busy with work and life...but I've been keeping up with your posts, just too busy to reply (hard to type on my phone), so sorry about that!

QOTW: we've bought the major nursery items (dresser, crib, and changing topper for dresser) and only 2 onesies--which my DH only bought because I complained that nobody had even bought us anything yet so he was sweet for doing that :). My other friends when pregnant always showed off on FB all their baby clothes they'd gotten as gifts, so when I haven't been getting any, I was like "hey, where's all my gifts for baby?" Lol. Our registry is mostly done but we still need to find a car seat and stroller- so many options it's overwhelming! How on earth does one make a decision or know what's best?

    *edited for spelling*
  • @mrsloriw: I know, there's SO much stuff to get, and so much choice out there! I personally asked friends and looked at online reviews. A good friend of mine has a family connection with one of the owners of Maxi Cosi/Quinny/Eddie Bauer. So we'll be getting a playpen (Eddie Bauer) and carseat (Maxi Cosi AP; the lightest on the market) at a substantial rebate from them. But, given my issues (severe endo), we will be trying for #2 fairly soon after #1, so we started looking into strollers that can be used as singles and doubles. We were hesitating between the City Select and the Uppababy Vista. Thankfully, the store where we bought the furniture at had both of them, so we could try them side-by-side. We removed seats, put them back on, took them for a stroll around the store, folded and re-opened them (these things are more complicated than you'd imagine...we had to ask for help for that and getting the carseat off the base...felt like I totally had no clue what I was getting myself into). We must have spent a good hour in the stroller section. Despite the price, we've decided to go with the Uppababy because the ride is much smoother, and it comes with a lot more (bassinet, rain and bug shields, etc.) Because there's no rush, we've decided to wait until Black Friday or Boxing Day to see whether it might go on sale. So I'd say, ask around, look at reviews and try stuff!
  • @KidShrink thanks for the advice! We tried looking at strollers but I was too confused so we just left the store. I will look into the brands you mentioned. :)
  • I know! If you go to places like Babies R us or Buy Buy Baby, they have SO many, and there's such a price range! I've looked up ratings and reviews. After reading the same things over and over, then I felt better about a decision! And then you just need to try it for yourself, and figure out what you need (city dweller, small or no car, walking on sidewalks vs suburbs, space in the car, walking in trails, etc.) We looked like complete idiots who clearly didn't know what they were doing! Which is ironic, because I work with kids all day, but then I've never had to handle the practical stuff like stroller and carseat!
