My DH's parents are divorced and he is a lot closer to his dad and his mom is super flighty. So we see my FIL about every 3 weeks or whenever he texts and asks if they can come up to see him, they live about 2 hours away. My MIL has seen him twice so she sees him about once a month, but she doesn't text us to see him more than that, they love about an hour away. She is also crazy and thinks we are going to drive an hour south if our work to ket her watch DS after I go back to work, even though we've told her that's unrealistic. As far as my side goes, we see my parents once or twice a week, but they live 10 minutes away and I love just hanging with my mom and get bored at home with just me, baby and my dogs.
In laws come for a visit every week. Sometimes it's a little much as MIL is also overly enthusiastic! She worries about the littlest things and gives us play by play of every move lo makes... even though we are in the same room!!!
The only thing that really bothers me is when she makes comments about him crying for no reason. But I'm convinced that anyone who is more than 15 years removed from the baby stage has just blocked out these first few months from memory lol.
I try to just remind myself that lo is lucky to have so much love. And she really does try to learn how I'm doing things, since she will have him 2 days a week when I go back to work. So I always just bite my tongue, and enjoy the help... and then I take a glass of wine and go take a shower! (Yes, I take my wine in the shower... motherhood is all about multitasking!)
