Best mixed feeding combination?

I have been trying to find the best feeding combo for my boy. He has a big appetite and I tried to EBF but he wants to be constantly on my breast. Combined with a tough labour and loss of blood my milk came late so we are mix feeding him but I'm trying to figure out what is best for him.

I tried to breastfeed him and finish this meal with formula but sometimes he sleeps on the boob so I give formula on the next meal but I must admit that I haven't managed to create a feeding routine yet. Maybe it's too soon? He is 7 weeks in two days.

I started supplementing when mine was 2-3 weeks old. I only gave her 2-3 bottles during the day. Other than that, I nursed. That is what my pediatrician recommended. Some people do the opposite - they nurse during the day and give a bottle during the night time feedings.
