MONO! Questions or advice

DS is almost 4 and a few days ago was treated by his GP for strep. Well a few days go by and my little guy is still lousy. Swollen lips + tongue too!! Just horrible, anyway my question was for anyone who's experienced mono? And anything that you could share with me, or course I'm extremely worried for my 3 week old daughter now. Was at the hospital all night and awaiting another doctor appointment today for further information.
Thank you for all your help!

Re: MONO! Questions or advice

  • I've only experienced mono firsthand at age 18. I didn't have any outward symptoms that people could see other than lethargy. But, anything involving my throat was so painful! I couldn't swallow my own saliva without crying from the pain. Hopefully little guy doesn't have it because it definitely sucks, even as an adult!! Well wishes to your family

  • I had mono at age 27 and I was fatigued for months. As long as you or your LO don't exchange bodily fluids with your DS (no eating or drinking after him) I think yo should be ok. Checks with your ped, which I'm sure you've done. So sorry about this!! Mono is not fun.
