I like to put ours up the weekend after thanksgiving. I love to go out and find a tree, then come home, listen to Christmas music, set it up, and drink hot apple cider.
Likely the weekend after Thanksgiving. I'm thinking about doing some sort of subtle announcement involving our Christmas decor... I need it up so I can play around.

We'll also do ours the weekend after Thanksgiving. We'll but up at my parents house that weekend and will likely do our annual tradition of going out and cutting down our tree as a family. When we get home I'll start the Christmas music, pull out all the decorations, make some hot cocoa and get to it!
We are putting ours up this weekend. We are going out of town for Thanksgiving starring the Sunday before and staying for a full week. I want the tree to be up when we get back after Thanksgiving so I don't have to wait another full week, so we put it up early. Granted, I would put it up November 1 if hubby would let me.

That's EXACTLY what we do lol... except we use a fake tree.
Tree and decorations go up the Friday or Saturday (it may take a couple days this year) after Thanksgiving! I can't wait. I do all the indoor decorations and tree decorations (after DH put up the tree lights) and DH works on the lights and decorations outside.

The day after Thanksgiving every year! (I refuse to even acknowledge xmas is coming before then. lol) And hopefully it will be decorated by the end of that weekend. Also, this is our first year with a cat so it should be interesting.... I have a feeling she's going to look at it and think 'biggest scratching post ever.'
I'll be out of town for thanksgiving and then dh leaves for a business trip and gets back the next saturday. He told me I could devote that sunday, I think the 7th, to all things christmas. Can't wait
Long before the army said they hated us and stuck us in sweltering hot climates, the tree would go up the day after Thanksgiving. The last 5 years we have began decorating the day after Halloween. We've needed the extra time and it's made us happy. Next year we will be back home, it will be cold and the day after thanksgiving ritual will resume. Thank the sweet baby jeabus!
We will start putting up our trees (yes, trees... we have six in our house) Next weekend, but we will save the "big" tree for right after thanksgiving. This year our main living room tree will be real, so we are waiting until we can go get one to put it up.
DH's birthday is the week after Thanksgiving and he doesn't like any Christmas decorations up until after. So we'll probably put up our tree and othe decorations the first or second weekend of December.
I also put on Christmas music while we decorate and then we sip hot chocolate and admire our tree when we're done. And definitely a real tree. I love the pine smell!!
I usually decorate the day after Thanksgiving, sometimes that night. I'm thinking of using decorations as an official accouncement; I want 3 stocking, 2 big, 1 little and write our names and Baby and put a little gift tag that say something like; To be delivered June 2016.
We do it the day after Thanksgiving. I'm so excited! We did some renovations this summer and I cannot wait to see the decorations in my updated living room!
We drive up north every year and cut down a tree in the woods. We're planning on going the weekend of December 12 this year. I always keep the tree up for all 12 days of Christmas so if we chop it down too early it might dry out!
I'm not excited about keeping an 18 month old away from the tree this year. Last year he was still army crawling so it was pretty easy keeping him away from the ornaments. Or drinking virginal eggnog while decorating said tree. Oh well!
I am so excited for Christmas this year! I think my 15 month old will start to get it a little bit! However, I am so afraid to put up the Christmas Tree!!! He is so into EVERYTHING!! I just know he'll be wanting to take all the ornaments off. I was thinking i would buy a bunch of cheap, plastic ornaments for the bottom of the tree. Anyone have any other tips for toddlers around a Christmas tree?
@jaceyannie I have plastic and cloth ornaments at the bottom of the tree that I tied yarn to so my DD can hang them on the tee and take them down herself. I also have had friends buy those baby gates that you can attach together to make an octagon to put around the tree to keep their LOs away from it.
I grew up with Catholic parents who celebrate the full 12 days of Christmas, so we always got our tree late (like a week before Christmas) and left it up until January 6. I seriously just this year started to realize that I can put up the tree any damn time I like, especially because we bought a fake one a couple of years ago. I prefer real, too, but between holiday travel and a baby, etc., artificial has just seemed easier for the time being. We'll probably start getting real ones again in a couple of years. I'm thinking I'll put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving.
H loves getting real trees so we always have to wait until a week or two into December so it's still pretty at Christmas, I love the smell but I'd be fine with the artificial!
I think I'll hold off on decorating until after H's birthday, which is next week
Beginning of December I'd say. We get a real tree and I haven't even seen any for sale-which makes sense be its November. I should also start my Xmas shopping.....
We don't do anything Christmas-y until the day after Thanksgiving. We go full out that day though! We listen to the music, drink hot chocolate and make/eat cookies, set up the tree and other decorations, and watch a Christmas movie that night. We used to do the Black Friday thing, but decided we wanted to focus more on family during the holidays. So we figured what better way to kick off the season than with an all day celebration!
