Dog owner check in

So in the precious thread we did super early my dogs weren't acting wierd at all.
Now my maltipom is seriously a stage 5 clinger. He wants to be next to me or on top of me literally all the time or just sits and stares at me. Sometimes I have to push him away and he makes me feel bad LOL but seriously I need personal space.
My golden on the other hand is chill and business as usual.

What are your furry friends doing these days?

Ps. Here is Bubba helpi ng with the bassinet and emmy just being cute

Re: Dog owner check in

  • My Marley has also become a stage 5 clinger. She loves to nap in my lap! Of course when daddy comes home though I no longer exist and she is all about him! We also let her sleep with us so she's just an all around spoiled pup.
  • Loading the player...
  • Can't even eat my cereal these days without my pug snuggling in.
  • My lab terrier mix Trooper..he's the baby of our bunch so it's definitely going to be an adjustment for him when new baby gets here
  • My big baby, snuggled up in bed!
  • Mine are both constantly clingy! Puppy is always underfoot and kitty is always on my lap, except when baby kicks. Then he glares and moves.
  • My lab, Bo, has gotten more needy for attention now that we spend so much time in the baby room/getting things ready. He's cuddling way more too, as you'll see in this pic from tonight!

    Anniversary
  • Apparently I can't eat dinner alone either
  • This was her "but moooooom, chasing the cat is so much fun!" face. So hard to stay stern when she looks like this!

  • My dog Merlin can't stop rubbing my legs when I walk into the room - it's like he's marking me. The cats are driving me bonkers more so - they want to lay on me all the time. Every time I roll over at night I'm moving at least one - erg.
  • This is my Gracie she isn't allowed on the couch so she lays with her face on it no matter where I am or what I'm doing she is there..... including when it's bed time she will sleep under my bed on my side so she knows when I get up....
  • My pit mix Josie is super clingy to me which is funny cause she is such a Daddy's girl but lately it's been all about me and lays her head on my belly. My boxer Cecilia is very protective of me and snaps at people that walk in the house which she had never done before. The only person she trusts is my mom lol! It's funny it's like they know what's up.
    Lilypie Breastfeeding tickers
  • Both of mine are as close to me as physically possible all the time, on the couch, following me into the bathroom, having meltdowns when I leave the house, way more than usual. I have to keep moving them from my lap because there isn't any space for them!
  • My dog has shown some curiosity about some of the baby gear, he thought the case of diapers smelled interesting (they have a little bit of a baby powder scent).
  • My pup is 6 months old and loves everyone. If we were being robbed he would approach the intruders with a stuffed duck and wagging tail. I'm at home with him all day so he's a little more attached to me than the husband. I'm checking out a daycare for him next week but I'm afraid they won't accept him because we aren't neutering him for a while. I haven't noticed any changes really, he hasn't been exposed to much baby gear yet.

Dogs are very aware of pregnancies. Especially if you had the dog before becoming pregnant. My pit pretty much knew I was pregnant before I did and was very protective and snuggly with me the whole week before I took the pregnancy test. They can smell the major change in hormones.

My dog has always been very clingy and protective so, not much has changed since getting pregnant. I can't go anywhere with out her following along. The one big change is she used to make me help lift her into my SUV and now she will jump in all by herself.
  • Yeah, still no change in behavior from my furbaby, Ranger. Still treats me the same, but is maybe more used to deliveries happening! ;) He's definitely interested in all the stuff that's changing in the house, but before working on the nursery my husband started renovating the bathroom & he also works from home a lot (he's a carpenter,) so there's pretty much a general hubbub going on most of the time. One thing that I know will be hard for him is not stealing the baby's stuff. He has a bunch of stuffies that he loves & carries around, snuggles up with & on occasion will steal dirty socks & slippers to do the same with (or the odd shoe.) When we first got home from the shower he kept stealing things from the gift bags, a lovey, some socks & a fuzzy sleepsack. Luckily he's not destructive & is very gentle with these things, but I know he's going to hear a lot of "Not for you, Ranger!" over the next 5 years or so.
  • I researched this...apparently your dog may sense when your about to go into labour and stick to you like glue the last little while
  • I love my Peanut..she was my first baby. But the last two weeks she is driving me nuts.I trip over her constantly, she just stares at me and follows me every where..even the bathroom. She has even started getting in my bed at night..she usually sleeps with one of the other kids, so its unusual..
  • @RSB1982 what a pretty baby!!! So biased though cause I love goldens

My dog, Lucy (on the right), is her normal, happy-go-lucky self. My other dog, Albert, started sneaking out of our room in the middle of the night to pee in the same spot on the carpet downstairs. After talking to other dog owners, it sounds like this can be typical behavior for some male dogs when their human-moms are pregnant. *Fingers crossed* but I'm pretty sure we broke him of the habit. He seems more or less normal now. Anyone else having this problem??

  • I forgot to attach a picture!
  • I have 2 stage 5 clingers
  • This is Tiger. He is a lab/sharpei/terrier mix. He came over for a head scratch. He likes to lay on the floor where ever I am to make sure no one gets me.
  • Our pup is turning one year old next week and recently we have seen a huge shift in his behavior. All that pup energy that has been driving us crazy these last few months has started to dim down. He still goes nuts when we go for walks and to the park to play with his ball. But we had him in an 10 ft round pin at our BaByQ and he did a great job!

This is him the night of the BaByQ after everyone left. He was all played out.

  • My mini schnauzer mix is a serious clinger!! She seems to think my bump is her pillow. She's always been clingy, but it's cuter now that she loves my belly
  • My handsome beagle Max and my handsome pit bull Diesel are never too far away!!

I have a pit and beagle pair, too! Jackson (beagle) and Kara (pibble) are both all about laying in my lap lately. Kara loves to rest her head on my bump and look up at me like she's wondering when my puppies will arrive.
  • My 2 dogs give zero f*cks about me being pregnant. The 1 year old is still very puppy like and jumps on my stomach if I don't watch her. Our 7 year old Yorkie is adorable, but probably more of a cat than a dog. They don't intentionally cuddle my bump or act protective or anything different.
  • One of our dogs (Arya) is super interested in the baby stuff and loves to investigate it. She also loves our friends 6 month old baby and tries to give him kisses head to toe.
Our other dog (Baylee) is afraid of the baby gear but over protective of me. They get into fights sometimes if Baylee thinks Arya is growling at me...even though they only play growl and it's at each other.
We practiced the baby crying noises in the crib and they just whined with it. I think they'll be alert dogs.
This picture is how close they get every morning.
  • My little Mouse attacked a Rottweiler that was running towards me today. She's extremely protective. I felt a bit bad for the Rotty. It didn't know what hit him.
No one got hurt but the Rotty lost his pride!
  • @RSB1982 what a pretty baby!!! So biased though cause I love goldens

Thank you! Indy is our first golden and I'm hooked on the breed. He has so much personality!
  • my baby boy who ive has since he was about 12 weeks is still a mommas boy but he does not like to cuddle up next to the belly (3 yrs now). My little Mexican mix ( I work at the border and she crossed over during a flood when she was about 4 months) she is extremely craving for attention and always wants loving from me more so (about 1 1/2yrs now)
  • Our pup Atlas has always been a cuddler, and he's always been good at splitting his time between my husband and I. That is no longer the case. I am the only person that matters. He's such a sweet boy. I definitely don't mind all the attention.

  • We have 2 German short haired pointers. Delilah is 2 and floyd is 4 months old. Both have always been super snuggly so nothing has changed there. It is getting significantly more difficult to roll over in bed with them though. We obviously got Floyd after I was pregnant and he's definitely a mommas boy, maybe that's why. Still with you on trying to get them not to jump up...gotta love me though!!
