Tmi - 6w 2d pap -worried

The doctor said there would be some spotting after she did the pap. She was in a rush and not very friendly or allowing me to ask questions/answer anything. At first they put me in as post partum not prenatal! I had to tell her 'um no im 6 weeks pregnant" she was surprised. Well, I was watching earlier and felt a small "gush" like feeling so I went to the bathroom to check and there was some small pieces of I think it was blood, although it could have been gel from my internal sono. I'm not entirely sure but for a few minutes it seemed abnormal. I've since lightened up to what spotting should be, but my cramps seem to have gotten worse since and I have a little achy/pain it's not sharp or constant it comes and goes. Should I be worried? I see someone at the women's center here tomorrow. Should I call my doc tonight or wait and see how the night goes?

Re: Tmi - 6w 2d pap -worried

  • I just posted this in another thread, but I had cramps and bleeding after my pap. No clots and everything subsided in a couple of days. This is probably normal, but call your doctor in the morning if you want peace of mind. I was very scared also.

  • Also, I'd consider finding a new doctor.

When I went in for my first pap my doctor told me that I prob will experience some light bleeding and a little bit of cramping but assured me that it was not coming from the inside just the outer part that he swiped. But, he did say if it was heavy and not normal that I should call. Your probably experiencing that along with the gel they used for your exams. I hope this helps you a little about being worried.
  • I never had this issue with my Pap. And my doctor at the time was very gentle! I didn't spot, cramp, or anything. Just that icky goop stuff they had to use was there. Yuck! :-S I would suggest you call yor doctor, and see what's going on. And if they don't help, I would find a new doc ASAP!
  • It's very common to bleed and cramp after a pap when pregnant.

  • I bled after my pap. The doctor just said it's common since your cervix is much more sensitive whole pregnant.

  • This is normal . If you had a transvaginal ultrasound as well then it's almost expected to have some light spotting. The cervix is crazy vascular.
