Are your babies on a schedule?

My LO will be 5 weeks on Friday and I still don't notice a schedule other then at night she is up every 2 hours. Usually around 2:30 and 4:30-5. Then she sleeps her best right after her last night feeding till 9-9:30. But the day is kinda random. I don't think she sleeps the same amount everyday other then at night it seems pretty routine now.

What are your schedules? Has your baby kinda created one for her/himself yet? im a ftm mom hear a lot about babies being on a schedule...is 5 weeks to young? These LOs are just figuring out life is it fair to just want them to fall into a routine?

Re: Are your babies on a schedule?

  • So far he falls asleep between 6 and 7 and sleeps until 10:30-11. That's his longest stretch of sleep and I try to go to sleep with him if I can. Then he's up every 2 hours- between 1:30-1:45 and 3:30 and 4. He is usually fussy after that and won't really go back to sleep until 8-9am and he takes a 2-3 hour nap. Between 10 and 6 I haven't notice a pattern yet.

  • My little guy is 2.5 weeks and we don't have any sort of schedule. He's been wanting to eat every hour for days now except yesterday. We were hoping that he broke his own every hour thing with his day of naps and 2-3 hour eating but today he's back on hourly. I just hope he gets on a beginning of the night routine. Like a 9-12 or 10-1 sleep session nightly would be great but so far were just going with the flow
  • my baby's 3 weeks old tomorrow and the last few days I've been showering him at 8:30ish, feed him at 9-930 then he wakes for a feed at 12:00, 3:00 and 6:00ish, I let him sleep and feed whenever during the day but try keep him up from 5pm so he sleeps okay during the night
  • My little girl is 4 weeks today and she has kind of created her own schedule and I've molded it here and there where I can. She sleeps pretty well at night and now goes at least 4 hours, sometimes 5 without waking to eat. I try my best to keep her awake in the morning and evening and let her nap as long as she'd like during the mid part of the day. Also, I started doing bath time late evening before she goes to bed.
  • We started a bedtime routine around 4-5 weeks. We don't have a daily routine other than through the night and first thing in the morning. He gets a bath and a feeding at 9 then we put him down and he sleeps until 2:45 usually. Then we feed him and put him down and he sleeps until 6:30-7.
  • My baby will be 6 weeks tomorrow and she has NO schedule at all. Some days she sticks to feed play/cry and sleep/fuss. And some days she takes no real naps and fusses all day. Nights are about the same ....
Hoping Things fall into place soon...she's 6 weeks and was hoping by now I could predict her a little more or at least plan my day around her but she's still pretty unpredictable..
  • My LO most generally wants to eat every 2.5-3 hours. I'm trying to make it so i feed him between 8-9 at night so on a "regular" eating pattern he will wake at 11/12, 2/3, 4/5. When I go back to work I have to be there at 5 so it will really help if I can fall into that schedule so I can feed him before I have to go. As for the day I let him sleep but try to keep him awake in the evening like 6-8 so he may sleep and get away from being awake 9-2. We had a great night last night!
  • My baby girl has created her own schedule for night, she generally is having a good nap around our dinner time, has milk at 10 or 11, sleeps until 2 or 230 to eat again, then sleeps again until 5 or 6. The rest of the day varies.
  • We are definitely not on a set schedule, but my baby is two weeks old and he takes a steady 3 ounces minimum at every feeding, then sleeps for 3 to 4 hours at a time throughout the day and at night. During the day I tried to do a half hour of play or stimulation while he's up before feeding. At night I try to soothe him on my chest after he eats and get him right back to sleep. It's worked pretty well. I notice he only gets up more often when he wasn't getting enough at a feeding.
  • First time mom, my little one is 4 weeks 1 day. She is on a schedule now. During the day after her feeding she sleeps 1 - 1.5 hours then I wake her up and change her. Will play with her tummy time read go outside. Then on her hour of feeding ( 3 hours during the day ) I will do the same thing. At around 530 600pm is when I will keep her up so she has time fr daddy. Then daddy will play with her while I cook and do what I need to do. At 7 it's bath time or a sponge bath. Then clean clothes feeding and a good rocking. She will sleep for maybe 4 - 5 hours. Then change and feed her. She gets up at 8 am to see daddy leave and do it all over again.
  • We don't have a schedule yet either. 6 weeks on Sunday. I bought a book that my friend swears by and used on her 3 kids. It's called 'The contended baby'. The problem is, they need to be able to have awake time and go at least 3 hours btwn feeding before you can start it. My LO is starting to allow some awake time that's not screaming bloody murder. Maybe 10-20 min. It helps at night if she has more awake time during the day. It also helps them distinguish the difference between night and day. Im going to attempt it starting Monday, bc work starts back up in Dec.
  • I'm totally adoring The Baby Whisperer! It's a routine not a schedule. We do the EASY routine. Eat, activity, sleep, you time. It's been working great and we are on a 3 hour cycle. Our activities are diaper change, bath, songs, book, tummy time, etc.

The challenge is keeping the schedule when we leave the house. He sleeps in the car and doesn't wake up for hours afterwards so will sleep through going out to dinner for example.
