Formula Feeding

Anyone use Nutramegin?

My son is 5 weeks old and has been on nutramegin for about 3 weeks.  I feel as if ever since we started this he has so much trouble passing gas.  A lot of times after eating he is scrunching and grunting and always trying to push something out, and often crying out and super fussy.  He does have reflux, and is on prevacid for that.  We have tried gas drops and gripe water and do bicycle legs and plenty of tummy time, but it doesn't seem like he gets much relief.  Anyone else see these issues after starting Nutramegin?

Re: Anyone use Nutramegin?

  • We used nutramigen but that was over a year ago. I had no issues with it. I'd talk to your pediatrician or nutritionist.
  • My LO is 4 months old and has been on Nutramigen for about a month and a half. Not really having any issues. She does get a little mucus in stool but overall is doing much better than when she was on breastmilk.

  • Just FYI that formula is often approved by insurance bc it's almost like medicine!

That's great. My parents had to put me On it and they still talk about how expensive it was.
  • Nutramigen is 3x as expensive as regular formula. :(
WIC & Medicaid can also assist with formula if you qualify.
For insurance work with your dr. Some don't know they can write you a prescription!
