You need to speak to your doctor about this and I'd say soon if you've had more than one fainting spells.
  • I have fainted twice so far! I'm worried about it happening while I'm driving too! It's super scary...first time it happened at work around 12 weeks. I went to the ER and they said I had extremely low blood sugar. Second time happened yesterday at 24 weeks and came along with strong cramping and contractions which have been happening for several weeks now. I had literally just gotten out of my appointment with my doctor and was at Walmart picking up my prescription when it happened. I called back my doctor immediately and he told me to go back in. So my mom drove me there and my blood pressure was fine, and I don't imagine it was blood sugar again because I had eaten about 30 mins before my doctors appointment. The doctor just said that sometimes pregnancy does weird things to the body. And he scheduled me a glucose challenge test tomorrow morning to see if gestational diabetes could be causing the fainting spells. Honestly I'm not sure if this is just a normal thing that happens during pregnancy...to me it seems not normal, and unsafe. But yeah, definitely let your doctor know. Maybe he can give you a better reason than mine gave me.

  • Blood pressure spikes/drops, overheating, not enough water... It happens. I almost fainted in my doctors office due to all of the above. She had me lay down for a bit, but said it was pretty normal for pregnancy.
You should probably discuss with your doctor.
  • I fainted twice during this pregnancy. The second time was this Tuesday. I can feel it coming on so luckily I've been able to get on the floor and have had people around me.

Basically I have low pressure normally and during pregnancy our blood vessels dilate which drops blood pressure even more. Also, low sugar plays a role. My OBGYN said to eat more snacks in between meals, drink more water and exercise more to increase blood Pressure.

    Hope this helps!

I have not fainted (yet) but I have come very close to the point where everything goes completely black and if I do not sit down or at least lean over something right then, I am sure I would fall over and it is becoming an on going issue, especially when I am in stores for some reason. I have asked my Dr, and his response was "It's part of pregnancy"

  • 20 weeks and it happened to me also. I hate and dread it. If it happens again I'll see my doc but wanted to say you are not alone.
  • I fainted around 16 weeks, and although we couldn't narrow down the cause, I think it was due to low blood sugar. I had recently worked out and not eaten a snack.  It scared me a lot too, and any time I felt a little off I would get very panicked. I avoided situations where I knew I wouldn't be able to sit down and rest for probably a month afterwards, but now I have relaxed about it.

I think that once you feel it once, you can tell better when it's coming on. I notice my body is way more sensitive to going long periods without eating, especially at certain times of the day. If I miss my 4:00 snack, I don't feel well at all. The doctor explained to me that whenever your baby needs something they just steal it from you, and then you're left with nothing.

My dr. was super casual about it, too. Said it was common and not something to be concerned about. Easier said than done!
