Every day is a fresh start. Literally

College student/ working mom/ pregnant with twins girl right here. I am very serious when i say every day is a fresh start. Like hey because it was so fun the first time lets learn first and second derivatives day after day after day. When will my normal retention and memory come back. Im fighting to find mental ability and motivation to keep going but literally forgetting everything and starting fresh is killing me. I have been skating by with mostly A's simply on the fact that i can learn something and be proficient at it the next problem but relearning it before every quiz and test is draining me so much. Anyone else with something similair?

  • I can feel your frustration and stress in your post. My last pregnancy I was taking an online class to extend my certification and teaching. I honestly felt like I had this huge mental block and I couldn't write, for my class or creatively.

I am someone to whom academics has always come naturally and this was extremely frustrating and difficult to deal with. It lasted the duration of my pregnancy. I promise you that after pregnancy your brain will return! Well, after you get over the sleep deprivation part... So a few months.

For now, I really recommend eating well, drinking enough water, and getting enough sleep to help you. Good luck!

  • Im trying. Sleep is going well up till recently and water is great. Food i just started to be able to eat healthy again without feeling ill. I really just need to finish this semester and im taking next semester off. My pregnancy was perfectly planned to give birth after spring semester and so god, karma, murphy...whatever you believe laughed and gave me two little babes growing in me. I dropped one class but have my calculus and chemistry i kept. Im pre med with a 3.94 gpa and really dont want to screw it up. Im just struggling right now.
  • I was studying for the bar when I was pregnant with my first. The best advice I have is to identify times you feel best/can concentrate and capitalize on those times. And rest when you need to. Don't waste time spinning your wheels when you're too tired to remember anything. Good luck!! You will make it through!!
  • I'm an avid reader, always with a book in my hand, and with this pregnancy (as well as my last) I can't read for anything. I literally find it impossible to concentrate once I get past a few pages. Pregnancy is so strange!
  • I found out I was low on vitamin D, which can make your head foggy. I feel less "stupid" now that I am taking extra vitamin D!
And also kudos to you for all you have going on! Hang in there!
