Post partum period...

Hey ladies, I delivered my baby exactly one month from today (Oct 9th) and I already have my period. The thing that I'm not sure about is I am breastfeeding....should I have a period? Also a week after delivery I had chills and a fever so I went to emergency and ended up having placenta left inside my uterus. I was given a prescription as well as antibiotics to get rid of both the placenta and a possible infection. Two weeks ago I had a follow up ultrasound and it showed all placenta is now gone, and no infection!

So my question is...could this actually be my period? Or is this still just post partum bleeding (I had actually stopped bleeding for over a week and now it's back)? Or anyone else have any info/suggestions as to what it could be?!

Thanks!

  • I could be your period. With my daughter I got a regular period about the same time frame you are and I was breastfeeding her as well. Not all women skip periods due to breastfeeding.

Sadly it could be your period. I have BF'd both of my kids and never skipped periods.

  • With my 1st kid, I stopped bleeding at 2 -3 weeks pp and when I bled again at 6 weeks, I assumed my period was back even though I was exclusively BF. But once it ended, I didn't have another period until he was 9 months old and had started cutting back on the amount he nursed! So I realized the bleeding at 6 weeks was probably still related to birth and not a real period.
  • Could be either post partum bleeding or your period. With my first 2 I EBF and I still got my period somewhat quickly.
  • I delivered on the 10th and I have started having the cramping that always comes a day or so before my period. I haven't started yet and have always had incredibly irregular periods even on the pill. But I'm expecting mine to start this week and I'm also breastfeeding. Ugh!
