  • Two great appointments today!  It had been a LONG wait to get to today, so I'm finally glad to join the rest of you with more information about my baby than just a BFP.  We heard the heartbeat at the routine OB appointment this morning for the first time, then had the ultrasound for the first trimester screening this afternoon - simply amazing.  Baby was stretching legs out and moving all around.  It all became very real for DH and he teared up, which made me get weepy.  I am so thankful everything seems to be going well so far.

One bonus - baby's feet were crossed.  This is probably very common, but my dad ALWAYS had his feet crossed, it was kind of his "thing" when he'd be relaxing in his recliner.  Unfortunately, he passed away a few weeks ago on October 21 (I'm so glad he at least knew his grandbaby was on the way!), so it was neat to see this baby already has some of his mannerisms.
When I lay on the table, I cross at the ankles. At last weeks NT scan, baby was crossed at the ankles too. Funny, I felt the same way about having similar characteristics!

  • 12w3d today, had my "12 week scan" scheduled for two weeks ago when my dr decided to wait and tell us that we were actually only 10 weeks and she had known this since our dating ultrasound four weeks prior but decided to make us wait until this appt two weeks ago. So we basically did nothing at that appt, scheduled another for two weeks later (today) and they told me they'd submit a referral for the NT scan and blood work so all would be ready to go today for my REAL 12 week scan. Called my insurance on Friday, they said nothing had been submitted as far as referrals. Called the nurse at ob asked for referrals to be submitted since this appt is timely, never called me back. Go into my appt today, dr asks the typical questions and grabs her Doppler to find the heartbeat then says we will see you in four weeks. Wait what?! I told her I wanted the NT scan and blood work and she asked me why I didn't schedule my appt for that because it's timely. I got so pissed. I leave Sunday for two weeks for vacation so I need this all done by Friday and my insurance is saying referrals were never submitted, dr won't schedule appt for the scan and bloodwork until both are authorized. I've been having a panic attack all day. So now two appts two weeks apart have been a total waste of my time, and there's a chance I may not be able to get this flippin screening done at all!

    UGH!
  • @ncm0328 How frustrating!!! I would be so mad, and looking for a new OB office probably. I hope you get it all sorted out in time.
  • Thanks @Bluejay3030! Luckily, walked out to my mailbox last night at 4 while mid cry about all the appointment shenanigans, and there was my authorization, which apparently WAS submitted by my ob office two weeks ago, and it was for the perinatal specialist. So I called them up and scheduled an appt for 12:45 today! So excited. My husband and I PCS to Virginia from California in 4 weeks so that's why I have just stuck with this current ob. I've got one more visit with the December 8, 6 days before we get on the road to VA and I'm rid of them :)
  • For those of you who have had your NT already, did they offer to record it on a DVD? At both of my previous ultrasounds the offered so we brought DVDs and I'm bringing one today, but seeing as it's with a different dr I'm not sure if that's a common thing? My husband is gone for the month at navy training before we move and he will be missing this appt, so we were hoping to capture it somehow for him to see.
  • I am 12w5d.

Yesterday was first appointment with OB and it was great! He recommended I get IPS (optional screening test which we initially opted out of). He suggested getting it due to my epilepsy and so today I am going for ultrasound and bloodwork. Didn't think I'd have another ultrasound until just before Xmas. I wish DH could come - but I will bring him home printouts :-)

I have an appointment this afternoon, and I am so nervous! 13w3d, but I've been measuring ahead of schedule so far. Can't wait to get the relief of hearing the heartbeat again, and I hope we get to see movement today!

Great! I was hoping that the baby would be measuring further along than at my last appointment (11 days "behind"), but s/he was right on target with the measurement. This puts my due date at June 4.

    Any ultrasound or doppler?
Both. Baby was wiggling around and waving on the ultrasound, and we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time :) 170 bpm.

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
I had a question about it being okay for me & DH to go on a babymoon cruise the week after Christmas.. She said it wouldn't be a problem. Yay!

How did your appointment go overall? Amazing!

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Yep, we talked about weight gain (I've only gained 1 so far). I have lost around 20-25 pounds and just don't want to gorge myself on food (which I'm not). But hearing that it's ok to gain 3-4 pounds every few weeks, it makes me feel a little better. Again, not going to gorge myself but working on normalizing the weight gain right now. And he was ok with me taking prednisone last week when my asthma flared. I feel good. Now we are on to the regular appointments, every 4 weeks!

  • OMG! The ultrasound was fantastic. (Update to last post above)

I had the initial one to check if all was ok at 7w5d and wow, whatta difference 5 weeks makes. Baby has visible nose and legs, arms, etc. So so awesome. (clearly I'm a first time Mom!)

Great appointments this week! Now I start the last week of trimester #1 -yay!

How did your appointment go overall?
It was our first appointment with our new midwife! Such a better fit. Don't get me wrong, my OB is/was great but we decided we want to try a home birth! So it was just the paperwork appointment. We did get to hear the baby's heartbeat though! We're still deciding on if we're going to do an anatomy scan with my OB.

    Any ultrasound or doppler?
Doppler. It made me tear up to hear their heart beat again. I love this child! <3

Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had?
I didn't have to many since I've been researching everything like a crazy lady, but H had a lot of questions.
  • Hello everyone - this is my first post and I'm a first time mom - had a bit of an odd experience at my 12 week NT scan and would love to get the opinion of some other moms.
So baby was not being cooperative - at first he/she was sleeping and not moving, then I coughed and baby started moving too much. The technician told me she could not get the correct measurements and asked me to come back Wednesday when I will be almost 13 weeks. Has this happened to anyone else? I would love some reassurance.
I will attach the u/s picture - does everything look normal to you? Thanks!
  • Had my appointment on Friday 13th!! I was 12w 4d. Doc said the NT was normal and we heard heartbeat for the first time. He was surprised to find that baby is already carrying higher than expected :)
