Ideas on how to tell our BIG NEWS?!?!

I have a few ideas in my head but would like to get everyone else's ideas! 

I would like to get ideas on how I should announce our pregnancy:

to our family/friends...

&

I am a teacher of special needs kids (they get really excited about EVERYTHING!!) so I was trying to think of creative ideas to tell my class/staff...

Any ideas?!?!?!

If you are wanting to do a photo announcement there is a great thread already started on that   

For our family:  We are going to tell them on Thanksgiving.  We are doing our Christmas exchange (my parents live several states away and wont be here for Christmas).  We do a white elephant exchange with a different letter every year. This year is B. So we are getting a 3 photo frame and putting My DD in the first, my nephew in the second, and Coming in June for the third.  I am excited to see everyone's reaction.

For everyone else we will announce right around Christmas time.  We are still figuring that one out.   I love looking at the photo announcements to get idea.  I like the idea of an extra present under the tree, but DH likes to be more sneaky. He wants DD to draw a family pic with a big pregnant belly and have everyone figure it out.

For my parents (who will be first time grandparents), we all ATV quite a bit so we bought a youth ATV helmet and plan to give it to them as a "Hey, we saw this and think it might be a good additional helmet you might need one day." I've made DH a bet that my Dad tries to put it on, not realizing it's a kid's helmet! When they ask why it's so small, just planning to turn the question back around to them ("Why IS it so small!? Why could you need such a small helmet???")

For the inlaws, we already have 20+ nieces/nephews on that side. For Christmas (which is mass chaos), I'm planning to wrap ultrasound photos with no identifying information in little boxes and "give" them to like...4-5 people (one to each of his parents, two to SILs, and one to a niece who is going to freak out when she finds out we're expecting). There is a tradition in that family to not put the "from" on presents, but instead guess. It will be fun to see who guesses that we're the ones expecting! 

Another idea I've had that might be cute for your students is to buy a bunch of small baby items that you'll need anyway (pacifier, onesie, bib, etc.) and then have them guess why they'd need all those items... Might be expensive though depending on how many students you have.

I was member of Best Buddies for a while and we always had fun activities when someone was announcing something, big or small. They loved it! Not sure what ages they are but you could do a fun project centered around matching babies to their mom's; baby kittens to cats, baby giraffes to big giraffes and a very special people baby to a picture labeled with your name. It would be cute to see how they react. Have fun with it, whatever you choose! : )

For my in laws on Thanksgiving, I think I will relabel a bottle of sparkling juice with our photo announcement and bring a bottle of wine, unpack them and say I brought a special drink for myself. We are always trying new wines and beers with them, so at first they might think it's a normal drink until they see the label.

For my family, I'll be hosting Thanksgiving on Saturday. I might setup our Christmas decorations and hang a baby sock as an extra stocking. That and/or hang the ultrasound photo on the tree. I'm hoping they'll notice and freak out!

I'm also a teacher. I'm not sure when I'll announce to my students. I might wait until after Christmas break, but if I'm showing by then, I won't be able to wait. I think with my advanced class (I teach Photoshop) I'll Photoshop a selfie with a baby belly pretending to show them a new technique in the software. They'll flip out.

I read a book called My Teacher is Having a Baby to my class and did some fun activities to go with it. If you google it you should be able to find some of those activities.

I think we are going to blow out egg shells and insert a short message that pieces together for the little ones to crack open and assemble. As for the adults, they will catch on in the first 30 minuets of me not having my favorite Hot Buttered Rum drink at a family holiday function. Lol.

We got my father-in-law a card. On the front it says "Everyone gets to be young once". On the inside it says "Your turn's over" and I'm taping a picture of the ultrasound to it. It sounds a little harsh, but his family will laugh once they get over the shock of the fact that we're having a baby.
