I'm interested to see what everyone says. I'm 38+3 and have had no cramps, BH or anything close to a sign of labor coming. First cervix check is Friday and I have a feeling there won't be much action down there.
You could still have a long ways to go at only 38 and 3. I'm 41 weeks tmrw, no labor but some signs moving in the right direction for the past 3 weeks ( lost mucus plug, feel nauseous, dilated 2cms,period cramps throughout the day) you should check out the Labor Watch thread for tons of opinions and different stories.
My husband and I went for a long walk the evening before I went into labor and I honestly had no signs of labor. We went to dinner with friends after and I was having BH contractions pretty consistently but that was normal for me after exercise. Then I woke up at 12:30am with strong period like cramping, contractions were regular and painful. 19 hours later and he was here!
I've been cramping for a week. BH were always common in my pregnancy. I can tell my body is ready. I have every pre-labor sympton except my water breaking. My body is ready...I'm just doing the waiting game. I've been going to the drs twice a week to get NSTs done. At 35 weeks I was borderline preeclampcia. At 37 weeks swelling went down, blood pressure went down, protein in urine went back to normal and so has the blood work. I'm happy my dr is doing her job and watching out but at the sametime I feel like since I'm so far along just induce me if you think the problem can come up again. I've been doing labs every weeks which means I have to catch my urine for 24 hours, which is a pain. I'm doing these labs that I'm sure costs money when they can induce me and we can all be happy.

Your doctor won't induce you unless there's a medical reason to. Saving money on labs doesn't count. Baby will come when he or she is ready. How far along are you?

With my first I just felt my bh pick up over the course of several days. This time I felt like I knew it was coming for weeks-I mentioned to several friends that I thought baby would come in oct 28th, she came on October 27th (3wks early). A couple days before I kept telling my husband, "I just feel different." Although the house was organized and clean, I double checked everything. Those two days before I had crying meltdowns over really silly things. I hurried up and finished writing my birth preferences, made my son's favorite muffins so he'd have something to snack on if we had to leave quickly, and told my midwife I was sure I was about to go into labor. That morning I woke up with period cramps (not uncommon for me since end of 3rd trimester) and she was born that night.
I felt completely fine the day I went into labor besides being unusually tired. I was only at a 1 and was having minimal signs of anything else labor related and my body still went into labor.
I had lots of cramping and Braxton hicks. Then severe hip pain. The day before I went into labor I was so tired I just wanted to sleep and then the morning I went into labor I had severe back pain which was due to him being sunny side up and led to the worst back labor.
I had no signs prior to my water breaking. Other than just being uncomfortable because I was 39+ weeks along, nothing that indicated labor was coming early.
No signs. My husband and I had just gone grocery shopping that day and done some laundry too. Laid in bed that night after showering and a few minutes later at 1:30am, I felt and heard a muffled POP!, my water broke. Get up from bed and a freaking waterfall came out of me. Hours later at 8am I started to feel contractions. It's different for everyone...unfortunately. Although, while I was showering I felt these stronger than usual sharp pains in my pelvic area like sudden cramps. I'd had them before so I didn't feel it was anything really. It wasn't until my water broke that I linked them together. But who knows. It could've just been those pains themselves...
Four days of prodromal labor. All of a sudden the contractions changed. I could pinpoint when I entered early labor, and moved to active labor. Water broke 30min into active labor and she was here 3.5hrs later.
DD was actually born the day this thread started, but the day before we did the usual walk DS to the park to play and then walked over to one of our favorite restaurants for a late lunch. That is a good 5 mile round trip. I still felt fine and DH and I were intimate that night. The only difference between that night and any other was I had a bit of bright red discharge afterwards.

I didn't have signs of labor at all. I went to the doctors Thursday and she checked me and I was 100% effaced but wasn't dilated. On Friday I had chest pain which I thought it was just because I had a EKG done because I have a heart problem than on Saturday I woke up with bad chest pain and wasn't feeling myself at all and didn't think anything of it than I went to the store and walked around and went home washed my hair and ate I hadn't been to hungry but I knew I had to eat. I went to lay on the couch because my chest was hurting still and it felt like I was about to poop in my pants I felt so much pressure than boom I felt a gush and knew it was my water that broke. But when my water broke I was bleeding a lot a lot.
