FTM jitters, anxiety and paranoia

Hey guys am the only one who worries about eveything under the sun about their baby? I'm constantly worried that my baby has every issue under the sun. And google scares the bejezus out of me when researching symptoms.

  • Nope! Her pediatrician knows her birthday by heart because I call so much. Welcome to the club! :x

  • Totally normal, however I have anxiety and when I talked to my doctor about it he gave me some good advice a) trust your doctors b) trust yourself c) stop googling things or I'll come to your house and cut your cables, and he also put me on some medication.

I'm not saying you need medication, but I am saying that while it's completely normal to worry about all the things that can go wrong, if you ever feel like anxiety is becoming unmanageable then it''s worth discussing with your dr. Also google seldom helps the worry.

Yes, yes, yes to all of this. Especially staying off Google.

I had to start a low dose of medication for my anxiety after my 2nd child was born and I am SO freaking happy I did. I'm a paranoid parent by nature and this has curbed a huge portion of that.

  • It's completely normal. I have it bad as well. Some Moms get the blues, others get the anxiety, or both. I find that talking and hanging out with other Moms really helps me. Just keep reminding yourself that your baby will cry if he/she needs you, babies are very resilient, and to trust your instincts as a Mom. We'll get through this and laugh at ourselves when they're older I'm sure.
  • I am relaxed and chilled about everything except SIDS and I am paranoid about it! My mother and her sister are the type to worry about everything and my aunt's SIL had 2 babies die from suffocation (technically not SIDS but coslept while impaired by drugs/alcohol). I won't even drink until he's older because I don't want to be the slightest impaired around him. I wake up several times just to watch him breathe if he gets too quiet. My mother is watching him overnight at times because I am a night shift RN and she pretty much stays up to watch him breathe. I'm so glad it's the only thing I worry about because if I felt this way about other things I would need meds and therapy. I completely feel for the new mom anxiety.
