3rd Trimester

Leg pain?

About a week ago, I started having pain in my right leg around my calf. It feels like I pulled a muscle, but honestly I don't do a lot so I know that isn't the cause. I know it isn't a bruise either. I thought it would go away in a day or two, so I decided to deal with it at least until my next OB appointment which was Thursday 11/5. By then, the pain had gotten worse. My doctor told me to go to the ER to get checked for a blood clot. I was so nervous. After 3 hours of waiting and finally getting an ultrasound of my leg, I find out I do not have any blood clots, but I do have a lump where my calf meets the back of my knee. I wasn't told what exactly the lump was. It has been 3 almost 4 days since my hospital visit and the pain is so much worse. My leg is very tender to the touch. There is no swelling (besides the lump), no redness or discoloration and no change in temperature. I have no idea what could be causing the lump or my pain. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this or anything like it and if I should worry? I am 39w3d pregnant, due on 11/12.

Re: Leg pain?

  • Omg, this happens to me all the time. I can barely even walk when I does and it lasts about a week or so. And when one leg cramps so does the other. I try to stay hydrated and everything but it still happens. I wouldn't worry about it. I guess it's one of those unpleasant things about being pregnant. Lol. Hot baths usually help me for a little while, I also try to massage my legs in the tub which hurts really bad but I find that it helps some too.

  • Leg cramps can be a symptom in the third trimester. The lump could be indicative of something more though. I'd get that checked out again just in case.
  • I'm on number four and 23 weeks but my third I had muscle cramping in my legs all the time toward the very end!! In fact I felt a pop in my thigh and had him the next day at 39 weeks...very normal!
