Anyone get the flu pregnant? I had a slight fever a few days ago and went to the doctor and was told I have the flu. I'be been doing what I can to keep my fever down I'm just nervous! Can anyone ease my mind? I'm eleven weeks pregnant.
Okay you posted the same question yesterday. The answers won't change. If the doctor didn't do a flu test they're just assuming it's the flu. The fact that your previous post mentioned antibiotics means they likely didn't do the actual test because no sane doctor would prescribe antibiotics to a pregnant woman who is confirmed to have the flu and not something else. Take the tylenol to keep your fever down and you'll be fine. FYI its generally frowned upon to post the same question over and over again when you don't get the answer you want. Hope you feel better soon.

1. I didn't know the flu could get pregnant
2. The flu is caused by a virus. Antibiotics are used to fight bacterial infections. Anti-virals are second line of defense against the flu---after the flu shot. That is the first line of defense.
3. It's hard for me to believe the doctor told you that you had the flu, especially while pregnant, and hasn't done something necessarily to ease your mind. The real flu is very serious, especially for pregnant women.
4. Follow your doctors orders. Take Tylenol for your fever. Drink lots of fluids. And try to eat. Maybe some chicken noodle soup. Your body needs nutrition to fight this off.
I agree with you. The doctor gave me antibiotics for a sinus infection, after telling her I definitely don't have a sinus infection right now, I work with children and a close friend of mine was sick with the same thing so it's a virus. Anyway, I've had a fever of about 99.0-99.6 since that visit. I'm a worry wort especially when the primary care physician I saw told me if I have a fever, so does baby. I haven't touched the antibiotics yet given I know I have a virus. I got the flu shot too just a month ago I'm disappointed I still got the same thing as the people around me have gotten.
@zlindsey75 I feel you! I'm a hypochondriac by nature especially since I got pregnant and even though everything has been fine so far a previous miscarriage has me believing that everything that can go wrong, will but that's just our crazy new mama hormones and not reality. If you're temperature is that low now, I wouldn't worry! An adult low grade fever is typically between 100-101. But also remember we are pregnant and elevated body temperature is part of that as well. Try to get some rest and I hope you feel better Also it does seem bizarre to me that your doctor would look at a low grade fever and call it the flu because the flu definitely manifests itself in different ways. If you're still worried I would call your OB for a second opinion, that's what they're there for!
