Don't know what to think...

Just got back from my first US for my first pregnancy. The first day of my last period was Sep 9 so I thought I was 8w2days.

There was a sac, and a baby, but no heartbeat and the technician said I was measuring 6w1day. Nothing on the transvaginal US either.

She said they would send the images to my Dr and he can decide whether to send me for another ultrasound. I don't know how to feel!

It is very typical for women to ovulate later than day 14. They don't teach you crap in sex Ed in school. Congrats and welcome! For your future peace of mind I would read taking charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. If I went by my LMP I'd be almost 11 weeks but I'm only 7 tomorrow.

I know how anxious you must feel. Keep in mind, like PP said, the LMP due date assumes you ovulated on cycle day 14, which many, many women don't. So it's not very accurate. Also, my doc told me that the early u/s can be off by 5 days or so.

Regarding the HB, I think it's pretty typical not to see the HB on the u/s in week 6. Hopefully your doc will have you come back in a week or so.

I hope you are in a similar situation as this... With my first baby, my original due date based on LMP was July 29... When I had my first ultrasound, they measured the baby was about 6 weeks(we could not recognize a heartbeat on ultrasound)- they expected me to be 8 weeks- they told me it was either a very early pregnancy or a miscarriage... I had another ultrasound at 11 weeks, they changed my due date to Aug 5.. My son was born aug 15---HALF A MONTH later than my original due date.

Same here. At the first practice I went to, the midwife ignored me when I said I had a long cycle, and when the baby measured 6w at what should have been 8w based on my LMP, she gave me this scary talk about MC odds and not telling people. I knew I wasn't 8w, though, and when we went back two weeks later, there was a thriving little 8w fetus on the ultrasound. My real due date ended up being 11 days later than it would have been based on my LMP (and then she went almost two weeks past that to boot). I feel like a lot of us have stories similar to this.

Sending prayers! This can be scary, but as others said, ovulation can be a mystery!

When did you get a Positive test? If it has been 4 weeks I could see your concern. Hang in there and praying!

T&P to you! Like the others have said, you could have ovulated later than you originally thought. So much can change in a matter of days- especially in the 6th week. Try not to be discouraged. Hang in there and know we are here for support

Did you get a positive pregnancy test before cycle day 28? If so, then it does seem that you should be 8 weeks, and that you are measuring too small right now. Did you positive pregnancy test come later... Maybe cycle day 40 something? If so, then a 6 week ultrasound would make perfect sense.

The positive pregnancy test was on Oct 12, thanksgiving.

I've been having a bit of dark brown spotting since the VUS yesterday. In June, July, and August, my period was around the 13th of the month but in Sept, it was on the 9th.

I'm trying to stay positive but just sitting here waiting is brutal!

So the worst happened, I definitely miscarried this weekend. Thanks for all the thoughts and good wishes. I'll be sure to rejoin this group when I get pregnant again.
