Is Halibut safe?

I'm getting mixed results via an app I have and google search. Attending a friend's wedding next weekend and I chose fish, it's halibut and in subsequent conversations I already declined the vegetarian option. I can sense her frustration already - want to make sure I don't push to change if it's not necessary.  TIA!

Re: Is Halibut safe?

  • if it is fully cooked and it's your "mercury" fish serving for the week i dont see the problem.

Yes, Halibut is safe during pregnancy. Just make sure it's cooked well enough and you will be good to go :) It's good to eat fish but I wouldn't be eating it every day. The fish that are definite no no's during pregnancy are shark, swordfish, king mackerel and tilefish from the Gulf of Mexico.
